5.0 out of 5 stars Nice PC
This is a quick dependable mini form factor PC. Been building PCs for long time. Just wanted something small that fits nicely on my desk. Boots real quick and works nicely with a variety of peripherals I use such as Wacom Pen tablet. Video is great. It's annoying with snoopy Windows 11 installed. Might go back to WIN 10 in future or install Linux but it works well for what I use it for.
5.0 out of 5 stars MINISFORUM Venus Series UM790 Pro Mini PC
What a great space saver. I was able to replace my laptop and docking station with the mini-PC. I’ve had no WiFi issues or overheat issues, it works great. The integrated graphic does a great all around job, display quality is very sharp and bright. I had to de-tune it a bit to save my eyes. My only recommendation to MINISFORUM is for them not to install the rubber pads on the bare bone units since customers have to remove them to install their Ram and drive.
5.0 out of 5 stars I can't believe how small this is.
Replaced a mega-tower with this, and have more power than before. It's hard to believe a computer can be that small and convenient. Thus far it's running great.
4.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating that RAID only works in Windows so far
Added 2 NVMe 4 2TB drives and dual channel 5200Mhz DDR5 RAM. Set up RAID 0 for the 2 drives then attempted to install Windows 11 Pro. Windows won't recognize the RAID 0 unless during install you add the driver for RAID you must download from computer maker's website, then unzip the file and put it on another USB drive. There you want to select the driver in the folder with the title including the word BOTTOM. Then Windows installer will recognize the RAID 0. But when it installs even if you only use a portion of the RAID 0 space all other Operating systems will be blocked from accessing the RAID 0 disc set up. Both Slackware and Ubuntu failed to install until I removed the RAID set up and then could only install on 1 of the 2 NVMe SSD's rather than both as a Redundant Array of Independent Discs (RAID) provides.Hopefully Minisforum fixes this so I can fully use the computer and as dual boot.Note: Microsoft blocked my install hours after creating the functional system (I work in Information Management...) claiming system maker is not recognized. So I had to install it elsewhere then move the drives to it. Then Microsoft blocked the OS from working because it had been installed in another computer so it could work in this one. They then claimed my license was invalid because I had installed it in 2 computers because they had blocked the install in this computer. The made me pay to speak with them for installation support which resulted in the same "Because you installed it in another computer and moved the drives to this one, your license is no longer valid as you have violated the terms of the agreement. So Windows 11 Pro cannot work in the computer, Ubuntu cannot work with full support in the computer and Slackware is not liked by Minisforum I am told. So until Minisforum releases dtivers/allows updates to allow Linux OS's to run in RAID X, this computer feels like a complete rip off as was Windows 11 Pro.
5.0 out of 5 stars So this is what flying a jet feels like ...
I absolutely love my new computer .... I do a lot of photo/video editing ... this baby does the same tasks as my old system, but literally 4-5 times faster ... so far I'm extremely pleased with the quality & performance ... the small size also makes it an easy travel partner
1.0 out of 5 stars Hardware issues, cannot recommend
Unfortunately, after purchasing three of these in a row, I still do not have a fully functional mini pc.They all crash frequently, with varying levels of severity between the three separate machines. Videos would frequently crash, fail to load, cause the screens to blackout, etc.One had serious encoding issues in particular, there was fragmentation and jittering. One would crash while playing a video, and instead of a quick freeze, the entire computer would turn non-responsive and need to be restarted. The one that froze and fully crashed was also noticeably slower at every task, laggy and slow to respond in general.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fast, reliable and very compact
This is my second mini PC. The first was Asus, which suffered from overheating. This Minisforum is by far better in that respect. Idle temp is 35C, and full strain is 80C max, and it is quiet even then.Processor is very powerful, and so is the GPU, even though I do not use it for gaming. It has the latest connections, like USB4.. All in all, I am happy with it
5.0 out of 5 stars Product as advertised
A good work from home computer and definitely better than a notebook with similar specs
Minis form PC awesome
This is a totally awesome computer It is taking me some time in order to get the things right. I have upgraded the memory in the computer as far as the hard drive from one terabyte to eight terabytes. It is super fast loading up and I have absolutely no complaint It is an absolute powerhouse I would never have expected that it would be such an awesome machine. Also it's a huge space saver and we all need space these days. It was easy to upgrade the NVMe hard drives You just simply have to clone the one that you want and while you do that if you're going through Windows make sure that you turn off a bit locker and this should give you no trouble to install the new NVMe drive. Of course if you decide to use Linux you won't have any trouble with this but I would still turn off the BitLocker just in case just to bypass what they may feel is a security issue.
The best so far
Awesome so far (2 weeks in) works well. No issues yet. Usage has not reached its peak year so can’t comment on peak performance. Overall a good mini PC.
