5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional amplifier and network sound file management system
Did a fair amount of research and saw a number of YouTube videos on the R-N800A. For entertainment purposes, the unit has tremendous flexibility and is relatively simple plug and play, though clearly it is important to go through the instructions to get the most out of its features. Sound quality is very good, albeit that too depends on your speaker system, of course. Esthetically pleasing and simple layout. For audiophiles, the 1000 and 2000 might enhance sound quality, but for everyday entertainment use am very pleased with the 800.
5.0 out of 5 stars This is the one to get no doubt about it
So I review Hi-Fi equipment on YouTube, I won't link my channel but anyway. This is perhaps one of the best all-in-one streaming amplifiers / Swiss army knife Hi-Fi products I've had the pleasure to use.I picked this up about a month ago to use as a part of a second system and also to review it. Truth be said I've had the NAD c368 blue OS and I've also had the Marantz stereo 70s and the nr1200 and this is far and let me repeat far the better option.First off the sound quality is definitely more neutral than the Marantz and not as warm but it's more consistent. The Marantz had a tendency to sound good when playing vinyl and through the streaming but when using the HDMI or digital inputs or the analog inputs it wasn't as good, not so would the Yamaha, every input and every function sounds just as good as any other one. This definitely has a better application than HEOS, Marantz gets a lot of flack for that application and understandably so, however the Yamaha application is just better. It's more stable it works better and it allows you to do what you need to do every time you open the app. Also adding that I what advise people not to pay too much attention to people who have problems with apps or internet connectivity and who leave bad reviews because of that. I found over the years that most of those complaints are down to the individual environments that these people are use are utilizing those products that they're complaining about. The NAD definitely has the better app however the Yamaha just sounds better. Like I said weather through vinyl or digital inputs or analog inputs or streaming or Bluetooth even, the Yamaha just sounds better. It has a more involving sound and a more organic sound and a sound that draws you in to the music and you don't want to turn it off.The NAD is fine and the app is better no doubt about it, but after about an hour I can't help but want to turn it off because I'm tired of listening to it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive!
This blows my old 120 watt per channel receiver out of the water. I have it paired with a pair of JBL Studio towers and the sound is amazing. Controls, as well as the Music Cast app, are very easy to use. I also picked up the Yahama single-disc CD player and my only gripe about this would be that the receiver remote's pause/play/etc. buttons only operate a connected DMP and will not control a Yahama CD player.
4.0 out of 5 stars My second Yamaha reciever to replace a 30 year old model, for a reason
I think it sounds fantastic — the reason I bought this is the loudness knob (as opposed to a switch). I am not kidding; with three simple controls (bass, treble, loudness), if you can't find any sound curve that suits you you're not trying hard enough.I gave it four stars b/c I try to give fives to only the best things I've ever used or seen others use in a given category. Also, I don't know how much I'll use all the digital gimmickry (connections to Spotify, Sirius, Pandora, Bolo Music etc.). I do love the option for an optical in, though — we live in an area with a good deal of radio interference.I absolutely, 100% recommend it. I'm very happy to have my LPs spinning again.
5.0 out of 5 stars baby version of the R-N2000, perfectly fine for small apt
I have this one hooked up to KEF LSII meta (I think), and can tell you that the system sounds great in a small studio apt. I have a KEF subwoofer to supplement the bass. I don't think the toroidal coils inside this model really match up to the R-N2000 I have in my home, but the interfaces are the same, so easy to stream high quality audio from your phone. Not put any super stress tests, but great for this purpose.
5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional sound quality
I loved this receiver in all the ways. It’s a nice looking piece for my living room - desk sound system. I paired with my Sonys Faber lumina and I have the perfect match. The app is very intuitive and Easy to use, you can cast music in the app from your phone using Tidal or Spotify and take a call or watch videos without interruption of the music on the receiver. Pleased to find this receiver for my loved music.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product. The stand-by
The box cam pretty beat up. So far it has been working great. I did notice the standby light diving on and off for some reason. So I tuned it off completely and we started. It has fixed the issue for now. I just can't get over the box. Having some problems with streaming now. Not sure if it is because the mailman bet up the box? The seller did refund me 100 dollars for the price drop that happened in less then a month of purchase. So this is an excellent distributor who stands by the purchase. I really appreciate the out reach.
1.0 out of 5 stars Not as described not happy
Not at all happy I read the reviews sounded great until I got it hooked up your kidding me right sounds cheap so I returned it the next day ! They where very slow to refund contacted Bolo refunded finally wouldn’t recommend this Yamaha at all pioneer sx 1050 for years after that tired the Yamaha lol no where close sounded cheap don’t make the mistake I made pass you would think spending 1000 dollars on a unit you would get what you paid for not in this case old school vs new technology doesn’t compare old school wins every time don’t be fooled by the reviews
