5.0 out of 5 stars Best light for mechanics or any application
If you’re a regular grease monkey or a DIYer alike, this is the light for you! It packs a huge punch and can last for hours on the lowest setting. At night or dim light places, it can be extremely bright. Controls are simple to use with literally clicks of a single button. It’s within an affordable price range and could be cheaper if you wait for a deal. The magnet will stick to most things, even with a little bit of the correct metal in the material. Fits practically anywhere, usually clips on the side of my pocket. Great in the hands, could be easy to lose if not careful. Really easy to stick it to somewhere and walk away. Especially if you have add or adhd. Works in so many applications outside of mechanics. If not used regularly a charge could last weeks.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing little flashlight
I’ve been carrying a NiteKing M10 in my pocket for almost 10 years. It’s worn through several Cargo pant pockets (!) but it has served me well and is really bright, using a rechargeable EBL 14500 battery.Recently, I invested in a Micro Maxpedition EDC pocket pouch and have been able to add to my EDC carry list without too much bulk in my front pocket. Having the larger NiteKing in my pocket, in addition to the pouch, is impractical. I needed a much smaller flashlight. After a lot of research, I ordered the Baton 4 (in black/blue). It was a tough call at nearly $70 for such a tiny thing but, what a tiny thing! I was really tempted by the green/gold version. That looks gorgeous. However, I know this light will get dirty and scratched over time. Black is better in the long run..When I got the OLIGHT in my hand, it was even smaller than I’d imagined. It actually fits really well in my pouch because it is so small but I decided to keep it in my pocket as that makes it more quickly accessible, especially in the dark. I like the fact that you can easily lock the power button, with a long press when off. My NiteKing often warmed my leg before I realized it was on. I’ve already used the magnet on the end, to hold the flashlight above my bench in my unpowered garage. That feature is very useful and can even act as a retrieval magnet for dropped items when a cord is attached via the pocket clip. The double-bent pocket clip not only allows for clipping on a pocket flap, but for clipping on the peak of a cap, as a headlight. The light weight means the cap doesn’t drop down at all..The beam intensity and battery power LED indicators on either side of the power button are not visible when your thumb is on the button. They extinguish fairly soon after a button press and often, I look, see just my thumb, remove my thumb, and they are dark. Useful though. The power button has been reduced in height from the Baton 3. It is now almost flush with the body. That actually makes it harder to locate by feel. I’ve learned to feel for the pocket clip in my grip and the button is opposite that. I’d actually prefer a more tactile button, using the lock feature to avoid accidental operation. With gloves on, that power button is really tricky to find!.I’ve not used it long enough for the temperature control to kick in and kick down the brightness when in Turbo and High. Turbo is awesome. Even high is fantastic. Incredible when you consider the size of this light. Low and medium are often enough, though I must admit I love a bright white light when out in the dark. You have more time when that man-eating animal comes for you. 😊 Moonlight mode at 0.5 lumen is handy when you don’t want to disturb your partner, though you need dark-adjusted eyes for it to be really effective. The controls are easy to learn and operate..My photos were taken at Low, Medium, High, and Turbo. The tree is 60ft away and the garage doors, 130 feet away. The beam has a fairly large hotspot, but also a wide outer ring of light. My NiteKing has a much tighter beam and is not as bright. I guess that’s 10 years of development progress! 😉.I do like that I can have separate spare batteries for my NiteKing and can swap them out when the current battery is dying. As I understand it, you can still swap out for commercial versions of the Baton 4 battery but you can’t use the magnetic charger and charge in the flashlight. Not sure what other features also don’t work, maybe nothing else is affected. Only the OLIGHT proprietary battery allows that.I didn’t want to spend $100 for the charging case kit. $70 was enough and I’d be carrying a bulky charging case around with me. I already have a slimline, pocketable, INUI, 10,000 mAh, power bank..Overall, I am really pleased with the Baton 4. It’s proven well worth the money, especially since I won’t be wearing out pockets anymore! 😊
5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful for its compact size with a good range of light levels. Updated side button is great!
I previously had a Baton 3, which I liked, but the side switch/button stopped working and I had to send it back for warranty repair. The new, updated, metal, side button is a big improvement! Seems much more durable. And easier to activate. I also like the pocket clip on this version better. It seems to work well in both directions, vs. the previous one which was fine when you had the flashlight bulb side up, but was hard to slide on when pointing the bulb down, into your pocket. This clip easily slides onto my pocket in either orientation. The range of brightness is excellent and very versatile, from a dim “moonlight” up to a VERY bright “turbo”. And it will remember your previous setting and go back to the same brightness when turned on again. It’s easy to cycle through the brightness settings and the strobe light effect is easy to trigger when wanted. The best thing about this is its size. It’s lightweight and super compact so it fits easily in a pocket, even the terrible, tiny, pockets they give to us women! It will also easily fit in even a very small bag/purse/clutch. I wish I’d gotten the charging case but it’s easy to charge with the cord and charges quickly. I think every woman (and guy!) should carry something like this. It’s constantly coming in handy. Highly recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Bright and lasting!
The battery one this thing does really last a long time. It’s easy to charge and a perfect design. The size fits perfectly in my multitool holder and isn’t too heavy when I need to clip it to the brim of my hat. The magnet is strong as well. It has withstood my pressure washer more than a few times. It’s waterproofing works like it should as well
5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful in a tini package
The small size is perfect for keeping it in a pocket or purse. Personally I like to sleep with a flashlight next to me just because, and just in case anything..I like the powerful flashing (strobe) mode (to use as a personal safety feature) and I like the different brightness modes. Lots of great features in this tini flashlight. The Turbo mode and the USB magnetic charging cable make this little baby my favorite everyday flashlight.
5.0 out of 5 stars Small yet mighty
Much smaller than I expected, great for EDC. The clip seems very sturdy and the knurling helps anchor your pocket fabric to the clip. Well built, quick to charge and decently bright for its size.
5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful for size
Rugged yet compact. Very bright on high setting. Decent battery stand-by life. Takes a little practice to learn modes/brightness via button
4.0 out of 5 stars Light yellow and special charging cable.
Nice and bright. But color of light very warm. Also, requires special charger cable. Nice and magnetic but one more cable to schlep on the road.
