This lockable diary is pretty and would make a great gift for anyone who enjoys journaling. The cover is slightly cushioned and looks well stitched. The lock opens and relocks fine. The combination can also be changed from the standard code.My only complaint is the pages are a little thin. (You can see the printed text at the top of the page on the other side.) So it might be difficult to reread what is written on one side depending on what writing utensil you choose to write in on the other side of the page.

What do you buy for a 12 year old girl? Too old for babies and Barbies, too young for makeup...so we bought our friends daughter this diary. You'd have thought, when she opened it, it was a million dollars! Her biggest excitement was that it has a lock and her younger brother won't be able to get into it. The colors were pretty and soft. It's the right size and she is very excited to use it.

This was perfect for my daughter’s summer journal… until it wasn’t. The lock lasted 11 days. Tonight she put in the correct code, but it won’t open. Best I can think of is to cut it so she can continue her journal and hope her younger brother doesn’t get to it. The cover is pretty, the paper is fine. The pen jammed so it is stuck with the tip down sooner than the lock broke, too.
