I was very pleasantly surprised by this helmet - I like it as much as my black diamond and this one was less expensive..,I needed one for cooler weather and rolled the dice on this one not really expecting much but hoping. I have to admit ,I haven't had it in the field yet but the fit seems actually superior to my BD - this one uses a dial device on the back that kinda custom fits it to your dome...,really nice and I'd definitely buy it again.
5.0 out of 5 stars My third outdoor gear helmet
Outdoor Gear is my first stop for quality and affordable ski gear. This is my third helmet purchased for my family. These helmets are perfect, they protect the noggin, keep the noggin warm, and are affordable.I think the fit is great, they have lasted well over a few seasons. I would have purchased this a few times, and recommended this product to others.
4.0 out of 5 stars Serves its purpose
Bought these in matte white and the gradient blue. Colors are true to the pictures. The interior is plush and soft. The helmets fit snugly and are adjustable. The vents are nice. I kind of wanted the one where you can close the vents but this is fine. The giggle strap on the back is nice and easy to use. The only thing I don’t really care for is the ear area. Your ears sort of fit inside the little pockets. I’m used to the ones where it’s all flat. I think I will get use to though, you can certainly hear better with this type. Hope it keeps ears warm. Trying them out this week. Would buy again regardless. We have the outdoor master pro goggles to go with these and they fit seamlessly. Also have the boot bag which the helmet fits in perfectly.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Ski/Snowboard Helmet - Great Value for the Price!
If you purchase a helmet like this at the ski resort, it could set you back a hundred dollars or more. After skiing all my life (47 years on skis) and as a professional ski instructor/race coach, I finally decided it was time to protect the old noggin! I ordered this particular helmet because I liked its flat finish paint and easy-on-the-eyes profile — in short, it’s not flashy (because I’m not flashy). The fit is excellent — very comfortable after making just a few small adjustments out of the box. I like how easy it is to tighten or loosen with just a twist of the ratcheting mechanism in the back (I wish my cycling helmet were so easy to adjust!). The chin strap is comfy — I have a big head and face, and this strap seems to find just the right spot under my chin that it’s not annoying at all. The goggle retaining clip in the back is super easy — if you know how to use a bungee cord, you’ll know how to use this! Overall I’m very pleased and look forward to wearing this helmet and protecting my valuable brain!
5.0 out of 5 stars Works as Advertised
The helmet works great and is very comfortable. It stays in place and doesn’t have any pinch point or pressure point issues. I’ve used it several times skiing and had no issues.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value
For a casual skiier like myself, this is perfect. Great price.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice helmet
This helmet is nice, albeit a bit bulky. Super warm, and the lining is very soft!
5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a warm helmet
So, I won’t lie, I didn’t get this to go skiing in. I wanted a helmet to use while cycling in the colder months. Before, I have tried to layer way I could, but there was no great way of putting a helmet on and trying to keep your head warm. But now, that’s not the case. It covers my ears nicely with soft pads and the inside is comfortable and warm, but not too much to where you sweat after 10 minutes. They struck a really nice balance with this helmet. Just don’t where it when it starts to get warm. Strictly a cold weather helmet.
Fantastic for my kid
Love the helmet, so safe and secure for my 3.25yr old. Bought this for my kid after my husband bought his adult helmet from this brand. Has a bit of weight to it, but my average sized child has no complaints. The posted size chart was accurate for us. Very great quality. Highly recommend this brand for the helmets.
High Quality - Good for Winter Cycling
This ski helmet seems well made. It feels sturdy, the shell doesn't feel like it's cheap and thin, there was clear attention to detail, and it looks good to boot.Although I don't ski often, I got this helmet because I wanted to use it while biking in the winter. The removable inner liner is fantastic for keeping my head warm in those -20 degree C days. The flaps keep my ears toasty, despite the extra wind chill from riding fast.As everything is adjustable, I like to wear open ear headphones to enjoy music while riding around, but still being alert to dangers and people around me.As the liner is removable, it makes it easy to wash and care for.My only "complaint", which doesn't apply if you use it as a ski helmet, is that when the liner is removed, the velcro is aggressive and will scratch you. Most people who ski will keep it on due to the cold. To resolve this, I ordered some soft velcro to hook into it when I'm not using the liner as intended. This helmet is great, and I'd recommend it for skiing, winter cycling, and warmer weather cycling (with the soft velcro mod I wrote about).
Good bang for your buck ski helmet!
This Outdoor Master Kelvin 2 ski helmet is a good valued, warm, and safe helmet for just under $50.I was very impressed with the overall build quality of this helmet. It is light weight, comfortable, and well ventilated. The styling of the helmet is nice but, also overall very general/typical, it does however, come in a handful of colors.Sizing is pretty standard, which is plus because if you have an older helmet, or if you’ve ever rented or borrowed a helmet, and/or you already know a size that fits you well from before, then that’s probably the size to order in the Outdoor Master Kelvin 2, since it should fit the same. This helmet also has additional fit adjustments via the adjustable dial system, which allows for a little more customization in the snugness and stability in the fit.The ventilation on this particular helmet is also very good, and there are plenty of them for good flow. What I really like however, is that that the mesh covering the ventilation holes are very shallow so, that reduces the amount of potential snow build up in the wells, unlike some other helmets where the mesh is deep down and potentially allows for more snow to collect. With that said, the ventilation holes are not adjustable, so they can’t closed off if needed or adjusted in anyway. One other thing to note about the ventilation holes is that there aren’t any directly over the goggles. On some of the more premium models there are ventilation ports in the hood/visor end of the helmet which allows the goggles to vent through it, this helmet does not have that. These features are typically found in higher models and price points, so I can’t fault them on this but, they would have been nice features to have in some form at this price point. The helmet liner and ear pad are warm and very soft thanks to the plush faux fur lining. The liner and ear pads are also removable which makes them easy to wash and dry. The ear pad also has nice deep wells to allow for use of earbuds but, still remain comfortable. The chin strap is a standard adjustable buckle and very typical of ski helmets but, is secure. The chin strap band on the other hand, is extra long and also lined all around, 360 degrees, with the faux fur. This is nice little detail because of the few times when you might buckle up the strap backwards by accident, your chin will always be in contact with the soft part of the chin strap, unlike of some chin bands where it is only soft on one side, but hard/rough on the opposite. The most important feature of this helmet, is that it conforms to the ASTM safety standard. What that basically means is that it is tested to meet a particular set of safety requirements so, this helmet will offer the same level of protection as others, regardless of price.Overall, this is great basic but, safe and reliable ski helmet with some premium features, at a good value. The only nitpick on this particular helmet is that it’s bit thick. It still fits comfortable, it’s still light, and it still looks good so, not at all a deal breaker.
ASTM certified, good protection, comfortable, works with eyewear
This helmet is ASTM certified which gives me confidence it will provide protection in the event it is needed. The helmet fits well, and I really like the single size adjustment (first picture) ratchet knob. When you adjust the helmet, the pressure is applied equally around the entire head so you don't get any painful pressure points. It stays where you set it, and is just as easy to backoff the tightness as it is to apply it.The inside and ears are well insulated to keep your head warm, but there are numerous vents that aid in letting moisture out so you don't get too sweaty while wearing this. Even the chin strap has an insulated wrap around it that helps both to keep the band comfortable and that area under your chin warm.I prefer to wear sunglasses if it is not snowing or bitterly cold over goggles when skiing. This helmet works well with goggles but I will also note that it works very well with sunglasses/eyewear. The ear cups are soft enough that they wrap around the arms of eyewear and do not press the arms or the ear pieces of the eyewear into the side of your head. This helmet is a little bit heavier than some others I have but not heavy enough to make it uncomfortable at all. Lighter helmets typically come at a higher cost. Nice helmet very reasonably priced that I recommend.
Nothing better than a good helmet for kids
I initially ordered this for myself but circumstances prevented me from getting out this winter so I gave it to my nephew and he absolutely loves it.He uses it for riding his snowboard in the winter and now while he's out on his e-scooter.Great look and built very well.Lightweight with comfortable lining and straps.Highly recommended for keeping safety as a priority.
