I don't know what anyone else uses cinnamon sticks for, but I needed to get rid of ants. I used one stick per tomato plant and I have some incredible tomato plants. It didn't keep away all the creepy crawlers. I used basil also to help. But it solved at least one of my garden pest problems. (Considering I had an ant hill in my garden at the beginning of the season, I'm confident cinnamon deters ants.)
