This is a wonderful lens. I've used it for a couple months now.I've had this primarily paired with my a7s III. I am a full time photographer/videographer that works primarily with fitness influencers. I've used this lens quite a bit while shooting KneesOverToesGuy's live workout at ATG HQ.It's been great. Pairs wonderfully with the Active Stabilization on the a7s III. I am able to switch between this lens and my 24-70 GM II seemlessly, without seeing a drop in quality or sharpness.Focus is really snappy. Built quality is perfect. Small and light.I love that it has a 67mm filter thread, which is the same as many of my favorite primes (50mm 1.4, 24 1.4, 20 1.8).Overall, this was a lens I didn't know I needed in my kit, but now I don't think I could live without it. Thanks Sony!

if you shoot weddings and reel estate just get it. for the getting ready room which is normally very tight this is the perfect lens to have on and for the reception time. I looove how Sharp it is and how it reliable the autofocus is and its nice and light perfect for gimbal work

This lens has been absolutely amazing to test. For the wedding video work I do we use a Tamron 17-28 2.8 and while this one doesn't blow that out of the water, it was in no way any worst either. This is a really good lens and pairs spectacularly with a A7Siii for video and even for just casual photos with it.The build quality is pretty good. It's not Leica good or anything like that, but I like the feel and material they use the zoom and iris ring is great. The lens does start out at 16mm and goes in at 25mm but it's a really short distance and doesn't really affect balancing on a gimbal at all. Being a Canon shooter for photos for a long time, it's a little strange seeing a 16mm lens end so abruptly at 25mm, it doesn't feel like much range, but I guess they need it to keep at that size.The autofocus is very quick, smooth and accurate. In video I see little breathing in focus. After further testing, I have to say the breathing is extremely well controlled. The video focus is accurate also and very pleasing transition wise. This lens has a really nice close focusing distance.Picture quality wise, it's really pretty. The out of focus areas are subjectively to me a very pleasant look when blurred. There is some distortion in raw files, but in body and profile correction pretty much fixes any major issues.If you are looking to save money the Tamron Lens does 90% of what this lens does, but with some savings. But this lens is REALLY good. If you have the spare money to purchase this one over the Tamron, I suggest going for this one.**update** after move heavy video and photo usage, I have to say the minimum focus distance on this lens is amazing. It really gives a lot of creative options. I find myself preferring this lens over the tamron for any ultrawide application.

This is a premium lens with amazing clarity and resolution. It practically cost more than the camera body. You would use it on, but that’s always the case with nice lenses. This thing blows away the kit lens in terms of crystal clarity. It focuses faster too and has excellent image stabilization. But you have to decide if the differences are worth the money. Especially on a more niche type lens like a wide angle here. I do appreciate the fact that you get the constant aperture across all focal lengths. This is a typical sign of a premium lens.People doing architectural and real estate will particularly appreciate the images taken from this.

This is not a budget lens. It is a Sony G quality alternative to the very expensive Sony G 16-35 2.8. This gives me the essential focus range for wide angle shooting. I already own a 24-70. Lens is half the cost and weight of the 16-35. Heck yes I recommend it.
