5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, but heavy
This ramp is very sturdy and the non-slip material is much better than others with carpet-like material. I like that it folds up and has a carrying handle. The only negative is that it’s a little awkward to open and manoeuvre into position. It can pinch your fingers if you aren’t careful. Those issues likely stem from the weight. It’s a little heavy for me, which contributes to the awkwardness, but it may be fine for others. “Heavy” is somewhat subjective and varies depending on each person’s strength. Overall, it works well, it’s steady, and the non-slip material is better than others.
5.0 out of 5 stars Ease of use
This thing is fantastic! My old 18 year-old, 50-lb. dog is too crippled from arthritis to get into the back seat…even with a step stool, poor thing, so I ordered this ramp and it is so easy to fold and carry that I can hardly believe it. Old Maggie was hesitant at first, but a little treat-fueled coaxing got her on the ramp, and up into the back seat she went. This is a well-made product, and looks great either opened up or folded. The AstroTurf-like material prevents slipping, too. I can highly recommend this wonderful ramp.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, beware the quick fold
We have two German shepherd dogs. One is getting older and one is a puppy so we had a desire for a ramp for both so that we were not lifting them. The surface, functionality, length, sturdiness, and design seems great overall. We have a Cheve truck extended cab and a Jeep Wrangler. The ramp works well for the truck both in the cab as well as the truck bed. The back seat door in the Jeep is not wide enough to lay this flat so only can be used with rear entry. First time you use it be careful when opening and closing. The hinges are not set tight so it can quickly close on your fingers if you are not careful. PS it doesn’t feel good to smash your fingers :) not sure if the tension can be adjusted but doesn’t seem like it. Product has a great carry handle but is fairly heavy.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy ramp with good grip
Having an aging Akita who is having trouble jumping into the back of our SUV now, we needed to find a good ramp that would help him get in and out. This one has a nice tread pattern that he can navigate without slipping. It's plenty sturdy to hold him up, and the clip and rubber feet give us peace of mind that he is safe when on the ramp. While he still prefers to jump out than to walk down it, this has been a very important tool to assist with getting him to vet appointments without trying to pick him up and putting him in the vehicle. Plus if folds down to a nice size that doesn't take up too much room and that makes it easy to keep in the car.Highly recommend this one to anyone needing a quality ramp for their pets.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for my Boxer with a 4Runner (63" ramp)
My 65-lb Boxer has an injured ACL, and I have a bad back. So she can't jump, and I can't lift her into the 4Runner. After looking at a lot of ramps, I picked this one (63") and am very happy with it. It took her about a half-dozen times before she understood what she should be doing, then a few more days to get comfortable. (Lots of training treats!) I was concerned about the angle of the ramp going up to a 4Runner. It's a little steep, but acceptable. Any steeper, and she might have trouble with the angle/weight on that back leg.I've seen a few people mention the weight of the ramp. It's not bad, but I have felt a twinge in my back a couple of times lifting it to put it back (folded) into the car.I saw concerns about it bending under the dog's weight. My dog is 65-lbs, and it's sturdy. It has a carabiner to attach it to the hook-thing on the car so it won't slip under the dog, and I highly recommend you use that. The grip under her feet is good. Not too rough, but enough so she doesn't slip and feel confident. My one complaint is that it's a finger-pincher. Would be nice if it had something on the sides to grab it when you fold it, because as it is, you have to move your fingers quick or it will fold in on them. (Great for practicing those curse words, though! - lol) There was a learning curve for me and the dog, but we're both good at it now. (I considered dropping a star because of this, but decided it has so many other positives, I kept it at 5-stars)
3.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy built, but…
It’s a really sturdy step, but I live in the desert, if I leave it in the vehicle or outside, even in the shade, the metal in the step heats up to over 100 degrees and it’s hot! Too hot to handle or have the dog walk on, I burnt myself the first time.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy and long enough to allow easy access to the vehicle for your pet
We used this on a long road trip with our senior pup. She is 65 lbs and can be a little unsteady. She needed to be coaxed onto the ramp and led into the vehicle the first few times, but quickly took to it. The ramp folds easily to a storable size...just be careful of pinched fingers.
1.0 out of 5 stars Very dangerous and not safe!
Very dangerous and not safe! When you open it, it does not have any safety locks to lock in place so you’re constantly battling trying to keep one panel open while you open the next one. This causes the panels to fall down and pinch your fingers. It’s super heavy and clunky. Also, when you’re trying to open it, the rest of it is wanting to collapse and it actually fell and hit my partners leg, leaving a gash and lots of bleeding. The ramp itself is not very grippy, and my dog slid down it and injured herself. She is ten and more elderly. We even provided assistance going up and down. I was really excited to use this product. I think the company can make improvements! First, focus on safety! When you open a panel, make it safety lock open with a push release to collapse. Next, the corners are very sharp metal, that needs to be dealt with especially for storage or it will puncture and destroy the inside of your car (perhaps a carrying case?) Next, make it easier to open! It needs side handles of some sort to hold and open. At this point, we are returning it. It’s dangerous and has caused us humans and puppy injuries.
