5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT toddler MILK
This is EXTREMELY convenient to have for the little one’s. It is easy to mix and dissolves without lumps. My nephews both drank it without any issues. The extra good-for-you ingredients added to this, makes it a great choice. You get a lot of formula with this. Overall, I am happy with it. Just one of the containers makes a lot of milk. Definitely a great value for a good product. I HIGHLY recommend.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good quantity, decent taste
This is a good amount of product for the price - I would consider that the main upside. In terms of nutrients and tase, it is sufficient. There are better milk powders out there in my opinion, but this one is of good quality. I would only worry about going out of your way for another one if your kid specifically didn't like this one. It's a solid nutrient profile to boost any kid's diet, and I think for the price and what you'd save getting other foods, it's a great value for feeding the family.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Children, Tastes Fine to An Adult
This is a nice supplement for toddlers who still want milk during the transition to solid foods. I should mention this is specifically recommended against any child under the age of 1, so you cannot use this as a formula supplement. Instead, this is essentially powered milk fortified with extra nutrients for kids' development. As an adult, the taste is okay. It made me think of water that's flavored with a vanilla milkshake. Not the strongest flavor, but it's also made for toddlers. My little one doesn't mind. For value, this is a great deal because it's a four pack. That's 88 servings that are 8oz, which is pretty substantial. The bulk amount lets you get this and forget about buying them for a few months (or less, depending on how much your kid loves it).
5.0 out of 5 stars Nestle Nido
This product comes in tamper resistant packaging, which I appreciate. It also has an expiration date on the can. The powder did not clump when I added it to room temperature water. It was not sweet at all and has a very silky texture. It is a nice transition from formula to milk.
3.0 out of 5 stars Taste Is "Meh," Like Generic Powdered Skim Milk, Nutrition Okay, Bio-engineered Ingredient
NOTE: This powder "contains a bio-engineered food ingredient." It doesn't say which ingredient is bio-engineered. I'm not comfortable with that in general, but I'll accept it coming from a big brand like Nestle since they're not going to be a fly-by-night company if this turns out to be a problem later.I've got 4 grandkids that qualify as toddlers who visit me, and I thought this would be good to have on hand for them at home or to take along on road trips or camping trips.I had to taste it when I got it, and I'll tell you I wasn't impressed with this. It tastes like generic watery powdered milk when I prepared it as directed. I don't think my grandkids would be very impressed with it either. They already eat fairly nutritious foods and take their little toddler multivitamins, so I don't know how this would be an improvement if it's not very tasty. This might be good for financially struggling mothers (I used to be one of those); I don't know if it's considered an affordable option these days, but each can has only 22 servings. Not a good value for me personally.Three disappointed stars from me.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nutrition for little ones
To be clear, this drink mix specifies it is not made for children under 1 year old. I wouldn't recommend it for a child younger than that. But if your toddler needs a calorie-rich and mildly sweet milk powder to supplement their vitamin intake, this is a great option. Its taste is pleasant -- mildly sweet and reminiscent of a watered down vanilla protein shake. The powder mixes in easily with the water, leaving no gritty or filmy texture. I left it sit for a few minutes and it remained incorporated. While the suggested 4 scoops for 8 ounces of milk has 20 grams of sugar, overall I was impressed by the vast array of vitamins included. Like other reviewers, I noticed that it contains palm and soybean oil as its fifth ingredient which was a little disappointing. My set arrived with an expiration date about 8 months out from the arrival date, meaning I'll have 8 months to prepare all 88 servings. Should be doable for us to serve 11 or more of these drinks each month.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good for a milk beverage product
This tastes pretty decent as far as powdered milk goes. The label is clear, this is not dry whole milk like the regular NIDO but rather a "milk beverage". Still, it works well, tastes fine, mixes fine, and has all of the added nutrients. It says no added sugar, but it also adds lactose, so who really knows... It uses non-fat milk as base, but adds milk fat back in.The one con is that if you don't consume it fast, the expiration date isn't that far in the future. Still 6+ months from when I got it, but not enough if you want to keep it stocked for emergencies.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nestle Nido Excella Gold
This is a four pack, each tin containing 800g of powdered milk. The containers are bigger than I expected, so you're actually getting quite a lot of milk here! When mixed as directed with four scoops of powder per cup (8 fl oz) of water, each tin contains about 22 servings. The powder is very easy to mix and didn't require a blender or shaker cup at all - just stirring was sufficient. Each tin also has a 1 tbsp scoop for convenience. While it basically just tastes like skim milk once mixed, it's packed with additional vitamins and minerals. The tin does state it is not for infants under 1 year old, as it's a toddler formula, but it's also perfectly safe and nutritious for adults to drink. It's a good alternative to have around if you don't drink a lot of milk but need it occasionally for recipes and such.
