5.0 out of 5 stars Fun chemistry kit
What I like about this is that everything is written out in a way that allows kids to do the experiments independently. I recently got my kids a different science kit that was a bit more advanced. It had more experiments and included a good amount of the chemicals and materials they needed. But, it was a bit much for my 6 & 9 year olds. To get home and my kids want to do science and then start asking where the citric acid is, well its a bit much. Not that citric acid is scary, but when all you might here is acid... not good. This kit is perfect for their ages because the experiments are explained much better, it still includes pretty much everything you might need, excluding some things you likely have around the home anyway and the experiments never left me worried about my kids destroying my home or getting hurt. I feel National Geographic hit the mark perfectly with this kit. Good learning, some indepenence but nothing crazy.
5.0 out of 5 stars Cool kids set to introduce chemistry!
This is a really great learning tool to introduce chemistry to younger kids. Kids learn better when they're excited and when they start at an earlier age so it's good to see stuff like this where kids can learn while having fun. Great instruction guide to follow for each science experiment that tells you what you need to get ready along with pictures.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent starter set!
I got this National Geographic Kids Junior Chemistry Set for a couple of my kids, and love that they can do most of these experiments independently. Several of these experiments are common ones that we have done already from other sources, but that just means they are classic must-dos! The experiment booklet is easy to follow, and while not everything is included (and could not be), most of them involve simple things that we do already have at home (dish soap, pantry staples, food items, sandwich and freezer bags, tape, yarn, markers, etc.). I do wish it also included some of the smaller, less typical, items like balloons and pipe cleaners, but am really happy with the variety of beakers, flasks, and test tubes. I’d say they are all a lighter-weight plastic, but feel durable enough. This is an awesome set for STEM loving kids, and reasonably priced for all that comes in it!
4.0 out of 5 stars Product review
There are quite a lot of tools included in the kit to do experiments with. The booklet has 50 fun ideas on what to do, like making play dough or salt crystals.I honestly wasn’t expecting the need to buy so many additional items. You can do some experiments with the red, blue & yellow coloring without needed extra stuff but you’re really limited.Once you get the required items it’s pretty fun the kids had a blast and the instructions are easy to read & kid friendly. I recommend this to get your child interested in chemistry. Just keep in mind that you will need additional items, below is a list of items needed for the experiments. You’re basically just buying the beakers, test tubes, flasks etc. If this product included more items for experiments it would be 5/5.Items needed; Vegetable oil, Flour, cornstarch, salt, large paper clips, paper, string or thread, tape, pencils, ice cubes, paintbrush, popsicle sticks, long-grain rice, white vinegar, baking soda, sugar cubes, powdered sugar, & more.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Chemistry Set!
I was thrilled to see this National Geographic Chemistry set. I think it would make a great gift for the holidays or birthday, as well as a fun gift to keep on-hand for a rainy day. I love simple chemistry sets like this because it simplifies abstract concepts by helping young kids easily visualize using a few basic ingredients. The lab tools are designed for younger kids - durable, meant for smaller hands, and in bright colors. This chemistry set is great to have some fun activities for kids that will also make chemistry more approachable. Highly recommend!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Brand, Great Set
We homeschool, and I have purchased a lot of National Geographic kits over the years. They have been consistently good for us. The materials this set comes with are well-made. A lot of the pieces are brightly colored, and the plastic is thick and durable. After you do the science experiments, you can keep all of the materials included, because they are made to last. Some other brands come with materials that are all pretty much disposable after you use them. The ones in this set are also great for little hands. This set has been great to use with my younger kids. This would make a good gift for any kid that is interested in science, a homeschool family, etc.I look at reviews a lot while shopping. I hope this review helps!
