I expected some advantages and disadvantages of these picture hangers compared to the traditional, angled-nail type I have used for decades. I normally prefer screws to nails and, if the hanger must be exposed above the picture, these would be far more attractive. Also, I hoped that they would be more secure. The expected negatives were the increase in damage to the wall due to the two prongs and a screw hole compared to a smaller nail.When they arrived, however, I immediately knew that there would be a bigger problem. The screws included with the kit are very small. I was able to drive one into a piece of pine and it held very well, although the first screw was damaged beyond saving by the small Phillips driver I had to use. Things got worse when I tried to attach a hanger to a piece of scrap drywall. I was able to insert one of the screws into the drywall but, because the threads are not deep, it basically punched a hole the diameter of the screw and did not grab onto the drywall at all. On a conventional picture hanger, the angle of the nail keeps it secure but that is not the case for these hangers, the screw can fall right out.In summary, these hangers are okay if you will be attaching them to wood or to plasterboard if you know there is wood behind the plasterboard in the location you want (unlikely, I think). I cannot recommend them as general purpose picture hangers.
