5.0 out of 5 stars Serial data distribution with only a little speed compromise
My home network supports download and upload speeds of up to 300 Mbps, more than sufficient for 4K streaming on 4 Apple TVs, 5 computers, smart home devices, and 10 other small smart gadgets, most of which are Wi-Fi connected. However, using Ethernet still provides the most reliable data transfer. I decided to test an Ethernet splitter from "Snowkids" to see how it affects data transfer speed when used with two computers. When only one computer (an M1 MacBook Pro) was connected directly to the router via a Cat5 cable, Ookla's Internet Speed Test showed an average of 407 Mbps download and 418 Mbps upload—about 30% higher than the service provider's advertised maximum, as usual.Next, I connected two computers to the router through the splitter and ran Ookla's Internet Speed Test four times. computer 1 (Dell XPS15) recorded download speeds of 250 ± 46 Mbps and upload speeds of 402 ± 1.4 Mbps, while computer 2 (MacBook Pro) showed download speeds of 270 ± 47 Mbps and upload speeds of 170 ± 83 Mbps. Overall, the splitter maintained download speeds between 250-270 Mbps across both computers, though the upload speeds varied more widely. The test indicated that the splitter transfers data in series between the two computers, maintaining 83-90% of the promised speed or 61-66% of the maximum speed. Despite differences in protocols and hardware between the PC and Mac, the upload speeds were satisfactory. This test suggests that the splitter can be effectively integrated into my home network, providing more wired connections without significant speed loss. The splitter requires a separate 5W power supply, yeah, for sure to maintain this load well.
5.0 out of 5 stars Gets the job done!
This review is for Snowkids Ethernet Splitter 1 to 2 High Speed 1000Mbps, Gigabit LAN Splitter with USB Power Cable, Network RJ45 Internet Adapter for Cat 5/6/7/8 Cable [2 Devices Simultaneous Networking].I only had 1 ethernet output on my router but needed 2. This device has completely solved that issue. I've been using it for a few weeks now and have had no issue with it. I'd recommend this for anyone with a similar situation.
4.0 out of 5 stars Quality gigabit ethernet splitter at a premium price
This Snowkids gigabit ethernet splitter works great. I hooked up my laptop and a printer using the splitter and one ethernet cable. The only downside is the short USB-C power cable, which doesn't include an AC adapter. The case is made from aluminum, which helps with heat dissipation. This is a perfect solution for getting a second ethernet device when you don't need a switch and have a USB power source close to the splitter.
5.0 out of 5 stars Two devices on one line with decent speeds.
I decide to test out the snowkids splitter and was pleasantly pleased. Two desktop PCs shared the line with little lost to overall speed.. I had a spare usb charger so I was able to hook the splitter up near a plug-in behind a bookcase with their short cable otherwise I would have required the use of a longer usb cable. For my needs this splitter works exceptional well and would recommend it to other people.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works great so I can connect my TV and AppleTV via 1 ethernet cable
I prefer to have wired ethernet connections wherever possible for speed and stability reasons. I have a single ethernet cable running from my router to my TV. I need to connect my TV and my AppleTV to this single ethernet connection. Instead of using a full on network switch I used this device. It works great. I'm successfully running 2 ethernet connection across the single cable.
1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work
When powered up, with cables plugged in, light indicators come on briefly then go out.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to set up and works as described.
I keep various parts of my Arlo/Smartthings home security and automation in a closet along with one of my mesh routers. Those little routers are nice but they only have a single in/out connector to hard wire items. I needed something that would allow me two for a particular situation and found this device perfect. I was also able to plug the USB power connector into one of them! Works and is very easy to install. You'll need to make sure you have extra CatV or CatVI cables.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product...
