5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for travel and working
I use this with my Sony A7RIV, my GoPRo with the Gimbal for timelapses and Hyperlapses and my phone. It has the adapter. I needed to disassemble for travel and it was easy and great.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great for cityscape viewing
Bought this to view the city skyline with binoculars from my balcony and it's awesome. Very sturdy and stable. Easy to use. Love the handle that lets me easily pan to lock in on a sky scraper or bridge. The skyline is 8 miles away so this let's me view the beautiful city landmarks without any shaking.
4.0 out of 5 stars My new travel video tripod!
SmallRig continues to hit the sweet spot in price and performance for the mid to upper tier gear and this video tripod is a great example. The majority of my testing and evaluation for this review was done with a Z9 and a suitable lens which pushed the weight to the higher end of the suggested loading. That said, performance was really good in nearly every situation. A lot of positives and very few negatives.Pros:1. Solid aluminum construction that performs and inspires a confident feel. I felt good putting my larger camera and lens on this to shoot. Often times I had a metal cage for a mic and other attachments on my camera body and the tripod did a perfect job stabilizing all the gear for shooting.2. Really exceptional fluid head for the price with only one minor issue (see below). I was really amazed at the performance of the fluid head that came with this tripod. I've seen heads with similar performance for the price of this tripod AND head. The included plate will lock in and has the added safety latch to keep it connected even when the jaws are opened.3. Positive locking mechanisms on the legs. Although they are the twist to lock (not my favorite) the locking mechanisms work really well, tighten up and lock in place. I had zero issues.4. A hook to lower the CG and add weight when you need it. Sorta standard for a video tripod, hang your bag or a sandbag to add some stability and keep your peace of mind especially if you have a lighter camera on the tripod.5. Levels right where you need them to make sure your shot is good to go. Some tripods have their leveling tools in the worst places. This isn't one of those. The levels are in natural positions and are exactly where I'd expect them to be.6. Amazing value for the price! At the time of writing this review, 10/2024, this tripod was right at the $100 price point. For all the features and performance available, this really is a great deal. The head alone compares with other heads at this price point. The tripod is sturdy and does a really good job.7. You get a great carry bag to take the entire tripod and head on the road with you. The bag is good quality, looks good, and offers some protection to the kit.Cons:1. The lower legs are a little thin when compared to the rest of the tripod and even though they performed perfectly, I had some reservations using them. I always "tested the waters" when I pushed them out to their furthest travel distance.2. The pan adjustment is challenging. And when I say challenging I mean almost non-existent. There feels like two states for pan, locked and unlocked and very little tensioning between. This would, from time to time, result in a "bump" start from rest where you would have to push a little harder to get the head turning for a pan and then it move freely. This resulted in some jerky starts to video at first. I was able to overcome this by fully releasing the pan lock and giving a little counter turn pressure when I started to pan. Its not ideal but certainly workable after you get used to it.In summary, if you're wanting a lighter weight, lower cost portable video tripod with a really good head for the price point, this SmallRig offering really has to be considered. There are a few issues that keep it from being perfect but for most people, I think this is a fine option. For me, a part time pro, this is perfectly acceptable for use on location for both photo and video work with a heavier rig to shoot with.
5.0 out of 5 stars Cant go back
All my life I've been dealing with cheap 20-$40 tripods. They worked. These tripods here are a game changer though! The ease of use, easy and quick to setup, easy and quick to make height adjustments. Compact enough but still looking and feeling of substance. nice carrying cases, the locking mechanism are almost perfect. Easy to adjust the fluidity of the movements to your very spacific use case from how damping amount to fluidity to locking it off. Just all around amazing tripods that allow for quite some height. I absolutely love mine and use them almost every day while previously I constantly thought of different ways to NOT have to use a tripod because of how cumbersome they were. If you don't have a pro or semi-pro tripod, buy this or the carbon fiber version one and you wont be dissapointed.Oh, and its smallrig, so you know from the brand name alone that you're in good hands!
5.0 out of 5 stars great aluminum tripod
the smallrig is an excellent tripod, the aluminum construction makes it lighter than regular ones, it's easy to deploy and carry with me. the leg extension works great, the adjustment is easy to operate. it comes with a carrying bag, it feels sturdy and better than my cheaper manfrotto. I recommend it
5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding video tripod by SmallRig
I recently had a chance to order and test two similar video tripods made by SmallRig, the AD-50 graphite version, and the AD-50Lite version with aluminum legs that is the subject of this review. I've reviewed the more costly AD-50 graphite addition in a separate review. The AD-50Lite actually weighs about the same as the AD-50 but the AD-50 uses the savings in weight from having graphite legs (versus the AD-50Lite's aluminum legs) to incorporate a more sophisticated tripod head with stepless dampening and improved adjustable mid-level spreaders in the leg. But make no mistake, the AD-50Lite is no slouch as a video tripod. It's tripod head has fixed dampening but still offers very smooth tilting and panning. Likewise, it's mid-level spreaders often a good compromise in stability. The AD-50Lite still has a payload of 11 pounds. It comes with the same case as the AD-50, which is an excellent padded & strapped case. The AD-50Lite makes a fine studio tripod for video, and at 6.2 pounds of total weight still makes attractive option for video work on the road. Recommended.

Treppiede semi-professionale e ultra leggero
