5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the kids
I recently purchased the X-MAKER JOY 3D Printer, and it’s been the perfect introduction to 3D printing for my kids. This compact, ready-to-use machine makes it easy and affordable to step into the world of 3D printing. The printer arrived fully assembled, with no complicated setup. Its leveling-free feature takes the hassle out of calibration, delivering smooth and reliable prints right away. The included 8-color PLA filament set let us start printing projects immediately. My son especially loves the built-in camera, allowing him to monitor and control prints directly from his phone or tablet. Watching his designs come to life has been incredibly rewarding, and the print quality has exceeded our expectations for an entry-level printer. It’s sparked a new passion for the whole family, and we’re excited to tackle more advanced projects soon!
5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT !
I got it for my little brother and he’s obsessed. It was easy to set up, connected to WiFi easily , it prints pretty fast, a great quality and it performs great.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but overpriced
Initial Impressions Easy and fun to use. I unboxed it and followed the instructions to set it up and within about 20 minutes I was printing models directly from the app. I'm giving this printer to my neighbor, who has young children and has never used a 3D printer, so I wanted something they could just plug in and play with and not get frustrated. I tested it for a few days to make sure it wasn't going to make them hate me, and I had a lot of fun with it and zero failures. It's not perfect, but it actually lives up to its marketing as a fun introduction to 3D printing for kids.Pros: Simple setup - just unbox, plug it in, and follow the instructions. It's very quiet - by far the quietest 3D printer I own. Simple and fun to use. Kids will love going through the app, picking things to print, and then just printing them without having to do a bunch of prep work. The slicer software is easy to use, so kids can learn to slice their own files without too much trouble. The printer has a light and a camera, and can create timelapses as it prints. The frame rate is a bit low, but being able to check on prints from the app is very nice. I like the little status light bar at the bottom of the front panel. It pretty clearly indicates what's going on, and is a pretty clever addition. The print surface is amazing - models stick almost too well. They can actually be difficult to remove. A light coating of glue stick may alleviate that, but it's flexible enough to make removal possible as long as you're careful. Just keep it clean - wash it in warm water with dish soap if it gets too many fingerprints on it. Easy swap nozzle - just click a button and it slides right out, then just pop in a new one. Too bad Bolo doesn't sell the nozzles. The app works pretty well and includes a large selection of models for easy printing. Unlike some other apps, this one doesn't just scrape other sites for models and list them even if they won't print. This a curated selection of models that have been tested to make sure they'll print successfully on this printer. Multi-part models are already divided into separate build plates for easy printing - you pick plate 1, print it, then pick plate 2, print it, and so on until all the parts are ready. You can even switch filament in between to print multi-color models. (Note that you may need to use some super glue to assemble some of the models.) The app also includes some basic 3D design capabilities, so kids can design their own toys and print them right from the app. AOSEED sells kits to go with their X-Kit software so you can build models that require parts that aren't 3D printed. The kits include any parts needed that cannot be printed. For example, there's an RC car kit that includes the chassis and controller and you can print whatever bodies you want to use, attach one to the chassis, and have a basic little RC vehicle. The printer can use full sized spools of filament, of any brand, so you're not locked into the manufacturer's filament. AOSEED's filament is actually quite good, but it's kind of on the high end price-wise, so it's nice that you can use a less expensive brand.Cons: It's too expensive for what it is. There are much better printers available in the same price range. Kids will outgrow this little printer pretty quickly. There's no way to load files to the printer manually via SD card or USB. You have to load files via their app and via WiFi. Only 2.4GHz WiFi - most routers can accommodate this, but this could be an issue for some people. It's very slow. The kids will learn patience . . . No heated bed. I didn't try printing with anything other than PLA, but you're not going to be able to print some filaments on this printer due to the lack of a heated bed. The slicer is very basic. It worked fine for me during testing, but if you're used to tweaking your own slicer settings, you'll be frustrated by this one. There are "advanced" settings, but not as many as you get with other slicer software. It's good enough to give kids and beginners a taste of slicing their own models, and some flexibility in things like layer height and infill settings, and new users will learn what happens when you change some of the settings, so this isn't really much of a drawback. The spool holder is on the back. The printer is light enough to make turning it around easy enough, but feeding the filament in from the back is just a poor design decision, especially since there is plenty of room on either side. (This is a fairly common complaint with enclosed printers.) There's a plastic cover over the extruder that pops off way too easily. I suspect that's going to disappear quickly, and it isn't needed, so why bother?
5.0 out of 5 stars Great machine !
This thing is pretty awesome!
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use
My grandsons LOVED this as a starter 3D printer. Please purchase as an introduction to the process! ❤️❤️
3.0 out of 5 stars Prints well but slightly overpriced
I had no issues with the filament. The reason for my three-star rating is the price; there are cheaper filaments available that offer the same quality. However, if you can find it at a good price, the quality of this filament would make it worthwhile.
5.0 out of 5 stars Pricy but good filament
I saw this new brand come up, and while it was expensive I wanted to try it, so I ordered a few different colors, I love multicolored prints. Really love this silver color, it reminds me of pewter. I did two test prints, one to keep as a color reference and the other for destructive testing. The test print that I keep for reference looks pretty good. Layer lines on the side of the model look great, a little bit better than what I expected for such a shiny filament. It’s not a “silk” filament, it’s in between a solid color and shiny, a little more toward the shiny side. This spool was vacuum sealed well, the filament strand is nice and straight, and it is spooled neatly. The dimensions of the spool are approximately 60mm wide and 195mm in diameter. The spool is a nice thick plastic with a nice thick rim as well. I’m pretty sure this will work in a Bamboo AMS. I run my test prints on the same printer using the same G-Code every time as it’s my baseline. I haven’t needed to make any adjustments to get a great print out of this stuff. The detail is good, the overhangs are good, it seems to bridge well, and on the part of my model to test for stringing it passed in my opinion. The layer adhesion on this is excellent. I was not able to break my test print that I use for destructive testing- some don’t pass that test. My overall opinion of this filament is that it’s pretty decent stuff. It checks off all of my boxes except price point. If you’re ok with that, I’d highly recommend this filament. I’m impressed with this new brand.
1.0 out of 5 stars Not functional
*Will update review once replacement is received.UPDATEW received the new printer with a working base plate that moved. However, the printer still printer very morphed prints. After talking with their chat help, we attempted to recalibrate and level with only slightly better success. We were not impressed and will be refunding and looking at other brands. After setting up the printer we attempted multiple prints which all were canceled mid-print after we realized the base tray wasn't even moving. Tried a factory reset, but we were never able to see it function properly.
