COMITOK-L7C-Pro-stabilizer - 3 Axis GimbalThis is my first Gimbal so this is an entry point test to see how they work. The price of about $70 is reasonable for what you get.There is little to no assembly needed. Attach the tripod to the Gimbal and you're doneThe installation/operation manual is a little helpful but can use improvement.The Gimbal is not intuitive to operate, must read the manual to understand how to power it on (hold the power button for a second) and understand the four modes of operation.The same power button is used to rotate the phone from vertical to horizontal by simply pressing and immediately releasing the power buttonThere are three axis, Tilt, Roll, and Pan.There are 4 modes:All Follow (AF) which locks the Roll axis while the other axis follow the movement of the hand.Half Follow (HF) which locks Tilt & Roll while the Pan axis moves with the handle - Default.Lock Full (LF) locks all axis which means camera stays still and does not move with the handleFirst Person View (FPV) All axis follow the movement of the handleThe device hardware has a good feel to it and it feels of good quality.Charging is easy and the charge holds and the BT connection is easy.Pictures are very clearJoy stick and shutter button work wellNegatives:Removing the phone case is a big negativeThe zoom, panoramic, and time lapse only work with the suggested app (Gimbal Pro) which does not seem to be mature nor to be well written. It has 3 stars in the App Store and only 56 downloads at the time of this writing. I will not use the app which limits some of the functionality.The Pan axis never locks in any of the modes. I expected it to lock in the LF mode. This maybe attributed to my newness to the operation of the Gimbal.Update on 9/10/2024Took this on a trip to Yosemite and had difficulties using my iPhone 15 Max with it, it was almost too heavy for it to rotate from Portrait to Landscape. The joystick button came loose easily when was caught on the backpack.The battery life held well after I switched from the 15 Max to iPhone 12.

I like the AI tracker because it eliminates the need for a camera man or an expensive piece of hardware to track me. The 3-axis stability system is particularly impressive; it’s quick and responsive. The $30 discount made it the best gimbal option available, although it could have included a selfie stick or a tripod extension. Overall, it’s a solid mid-tier choice.

I'd previously messed around with a DJI Osmo stabilizer and I thought that there was no way that this item could compete with it for stability and function. It works shockingly well. In fact, the software is even better than the software that comes with the DJI one.I filmed my kids at the trampoline park, and although it didn't do a perfect job of tracking them when they were aggressively bouncing around, it captured their running around perfectly. I was really impressed.

I didn’t really know what a “Gimbal” was and kept hearing about how wonderful they are. I knew they helped take great pictures and during my travels I have seen people using them. I decided to take the plunge and order one. I’m glad I did!Not being the best tech savvy person, I was able to read the instructions and assemble it. The assembling of the Gimbal is super easy. I had to do a little work to learn how to operate it though. The instructions were not the greatest, but they are straightforward. I had to read the booklet a few times to understand how to use it. Once I powered it up, and started using the “joystick” on the device, that’s where all the fun began!While the Gimbal is on the tripod, you can get super smooth videos and photos and even pan a room or a landscape or any outdoor setting. The Gimbal literally glides and guides your phone to get video or photo angles that would be difficult to do by just holding your camera phone in your hand and trying to do it manually. Another nice thing is the Gimbal packs up well and does not take a ton of space when traveling. It charges quickly and all of the functions are at your fingertips - literally. Another nice thing is you have the ability to, instead of the tri-pod, you can grip the Gimbal in your hand and use the functions with your thumb. You can turn the Gimbal upright, upside down, to the side, and the camera phone will seamlessly adjust to your preference when shooting photos or videos.Lastly, the AI Tracking Module is super cool. You can use hand gestures to turn on face tracking, adjust the level of brightness, and more. The only comment I have for any changes would be to allow the smart phone holder to be able to accommodate a smartphone in the case. To use this, you have to take your phone out of the case, if you have one. Nevertheless, it’s a small inconvenience and pales in comparison to the Gimbal’s features and all that it does.I highly recommend this product. And especially for those who might be scared away by the technology. It is not as intimidating as it might look to operate. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll love it.
