4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, stylish, and heats up quickly
Ordered this warming tray for an upcoming Christmas party to keep dinner rolls warm. It looks like it will do the job. Ran a test with my infrared thermometer gun and it was ready to go on the "high" setting in about two minutes. (See pic).I did note that the top is glass, so you have to be careful with it. It came pre-scratched with one 1/2" scratch in the top that won't buff out, (See the pic) so I don't know how this will hold up in long term use.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Addition to Dinner Buffets on my Island
This is a vine review meaning the product was provided to be reviewed. This product is a black glass-top 120 V corded warming tray. It is packaged in a printed brown cardboard box suitable for gifting if wrapped.I have Quartz countertops in my kitchen which are sensitive to heat. I have a flexible 120 volt silicone warmer, the kind that you can roll up for Storage. However, I have always been leery about the amount of heat radiating underneath that warmer and whether my countertops would be damaged from using it for extended periods of time.Enter this product, which is elevated with four padded feet above the counter. The underside of the product is plastic, which means the amount of heat radiating from the underside of the product was limited during the engineering of the product to keep the plastic from warping. I feel confident that using this product for extended periods will not harm my quartz countertops. The product itself looks sharp and matches my glass cooktop. A detachable ungrounded 120 V cord plugs into the underside (but not the bottom) of the product. A rocker switch with Low-Off-High positions controls the product. Simple, without distracting digital readouts. I want people to focus on the food I’ve prepared for them, not the warmer.I tested the warmer by serving a fajita buffet on my kitchen island. I put a ceramic container with warm soft tortillas on the warmer, together with fajita meat and Spanish rice in separate metal containers. With the product on the High setting, the food was at the right temperature throughout the meal, even when my family went back for seconds. In summary, if you are looking for a functional and attractive food warmer that will not heat up your counters, this product fits the bill. I’m glad I ordered it and I recommend it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Pros & Cons + Art Studio Use
Pros:• Great looking warming tray - makes a nice, classy presentation and keeps food warm• Perfect for warm appetizers for a party• Easy to clean surfaceCons:• Hard to find a place to store it since it is a fragile glass top• Settings are Low and High (no indication of temperature) - however my instant read thermometer said 210º at the high setting• The heating surface is about 1.5" smaller all the way around (note the elements showing in the 2nd photo). For use in my encaustic art studio:• It's a great way to melt extra bee's wax to use in my art. Two pie tins fit on the surface BUT wax should not be heated over 180º (higher creates toxic fumes). I melted the wax on the high setting, too hot. When set a low, the wax was not hot enough to remain melted. I have another roll up heating mat that shows three temperature settings (and they are pretty accurate although that mat does not have as even heat distribution).•It can be used to create mono prints by working directly on the surface on high heat (1st photo) which can not be done on my roll up matt because the heat elements show through as a pattern...this tray has excellent heat distribution WHERE the elements are located (you lose that along the border). All in all this works great in my studio ... and it cleans up nicely so when I have a party with hot appetizers, I can use it the way it's meant to be used. My "storage" problem is solved since I plan to keep this in my studio!
5.0 out of 5 stars Warms Like no Heating Mats
If I could go back and resubmit previous similar food warmers reviews I wrote, I would lower their ratings, no matter how much I liked them. This one beats them all by a large margin. It is much faster and much more efficient than any other we've tried to this day. Just before trying this one, we tried another one that I rated five stars because of consistency, but this one is even more consistent when it comes to keeping the food warm.It is so reliable that I can easily see it being used for more than just keeping food warm. It will be great for prepping for baking.Of course, this is a bit different than other heating mats as it's not a mat at all. That's probably the downside of it since you can't fold it to store it away.
