4.0 out of 5 stars Tastes Good….But
First of all, let me say this tasted really good. The ‘kit’ comes in a paper cup (similar to a ramen soup cup) and 2 packets. One packet has a flavored (shrimp) sauce and the other has dehydrated veggies (again, similar to a ramen soup cup). The box to ship 12 of these egg cups was quite big. I was surprised to open this fairly large cup to only find 2 packets inside. That’s because YOU have to provide the main ingredient: 2 eggs (and water). All they are really providing you with is some shrimp flavored sauce and a little dried veggies. You get 12 ‘kits’ for $35, that’s about $3 per kit. That seems pretty expensive for two flavor packets.I don’t mean to be negative; but this product could be offered a lot cheaper if they cut out the bowl and just sold the packets of seasonings. Since I’m already having to supply the eggs, water and microwave; I can provide my own bowl too. They could ship 24 small packets (for 12 servings) in a box about the size of a box of Lipton soup mix and save a bunch on shipping. Not to mention saving me a lot of space in my cabinets.Again, I thought the Korean Steamed Egg product was very tasty. I would rather just get the flavorings and not pay for packaging that is unnecessary.
5.0 out of 5 stars Tasty!
I haven't ever had a product quite like this, but it was very easy to prepare and tasted great. I loved the flavor and it makes you feel like you're eating a fancy omelet, but it only takes 3 minutes to microwave. The paper bowl doesn't seem to be coated with plastic on the inside, which I appreciate. I feel safe microwaving the food in the container and not using my own because it doesn't have that additional lining I avoid. The cooked product is pretty solid, so the container doesn't need to withstand holding liquids for a long period of time.
3.0 out of 5 stars Could be better
Overall, I feel like these could be better in flavor, texture, and value. Most importantly, I think the flavor was a little lacking. The amount of fish flavor is spot on, but the number of veggies included in the packet is definitely lacking.I followed the directions on the package and the end result was very watery. I'm not sure what happened, but it wasn't pleasant. I wish they would have ended up as fluffy as the product photos show, but it just didn't happen. I ate it as prepared and wasn't impressed. Finally, I think they could improve the value greatly by not shipping the paper bowls. Although it might be convenient if you're in an office or something, I'm not sure where you'd find the fresh eggs that you also can't provide a real bowl. I'd love to pay significantly less to just get the flavoring packet and a decent amount of veggies!
4.0 out of 5 stars Who would've thought to combine eggs and shrimp, but it workds
My kids seem to like this. It's kind of weird, how it's cooked, but they like it.It's just steamed egg with fish oil or sauce on top. You do not have to add the fish sauce on top. It stinks, but they ate it up.I've never ever thought about combining those two, but it seems to work.Try it, maybe even your kids will like it.
2.0 out of 5 stars Too Salty & Absolutely Not Worth It
So I understood that I would have to provide my own eggs. However I was quite disappointed to find that there "kit" was a large cardboard bowl with a tiny packet of dried veggies (~1 teaspoon) and a tiny packet of overly salty flavoring, perhaps 1 teaspoon or less. That is all.And what it makes is not wonderful enough to justify the amount they charge. What it makes is this slightly soggy microwaved egg dish that is way too salty to be pleasant. No filler, no noodles, no seaweed, just soggy over-watered, over-salted egg.The smell is nice, but that is about it.I don't really want to waste my eggs to make any more - will probably bring the rest of the unused containers to work and let other people take them home and try them. Or I may just throw them away.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy meal
I enjoy these little egg kits. What is included is the cup, the sauce, and a veggie packet. You supply your own eggs and water. I really like the flavor of this. You just add the achovy/shrimp sauce, veggies, and water and eggs, stir it up and microwave it. The result is a nice scrambled egg with Korean style flavors that is very convenient and easy to make. Great for a quick meal, I like having it with some rice and kimchi for a nice complete meal.I do feel the price might be a little expensive, but considering that this is an imported item and also a convenience item, the higher price is to be expected. You could make things cheaper from scratch, but you'd be sacrificing the ease and convenience of an item like this, so I think the price is OK.
4.0 out of 5 stars Tastes ok
These taste ok. They are an easy way to make eggs. You get 12 individual egg kits. Each have the paper cup to cook the eggs in, a packet of dried veggies and a packet of fish broth(anchovy and shrimp). They call this broth sauce but it isn’t thickened like I would think of as a sauce. You need to add your own eggs and water. Ignore the recommendation to add 3.5oz(100ml), it’s too much. My eggs came out watery and I had to pour it off before eating. A couple ounces is enough. Add all ingredients to the cup, mix and microwave for 2 to 3 minutes. The broth taste is quite mild and the veggies add a nice color though very little flavor. Good with sourdough toast. Easy meal with very little cleanup. Only 25 calories but 550mg sodium. I like the convenience factor but find that the cost is way way too high for what you get.
1.0 out of 5 stars No one would eat them
Although everyone of my family was very excited to try these, they unfortunately did not enjoy them. The instructions were fairly simple, but the end result was not tasty. The best way I can describe it is strongly fishy.
