So I’m a few hours of gaming in and here are my general impressions:Firstly it was packaged very nicely, not too many frills but the box is still nice enough to display if that’s your thing. It felt slightly smaller and lighter in my hands in comparison with the oem Xbox controller but negligibly so, maybe by a couple of mm and an ounce or so. The buttons are also smaller, my thumb can cover all four at once whereas with the Xbox controller you can still see the edges of the buttons, which was jarring visually but over time I noticed that the smaller buttons actually made my inputs faster because there is virtually no travel time between buttons. Tacitly they feel nice and clickey, like a computer mouse button. Same goes for the d-pad, slight smaller, yet slightly more responsive. That said it’s a standard cross style pad and not the circular one like what’s on the Xbox controller so diagonal inputs take a little getting used to but not annoying so. The thumbsticks feel great and are located exactly where they should be. The triggers and bumpers are very comfortable and responsive. The paddle buttons are right where your middle fingers rest on the controller. Not too big to be distracting but not so small so that you’re not thinking about where they are when you need to use them. They aren’t necessary but it’s a nice addition and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if Microsoft does something similar with future controllers because their placement and usage doesn’t alter your grip or feel on the controller at all. The menu and view buttons are slightly different from where they are on the oem controller but it’s not that bad and tbh, you could remap them to the paddles which actually would be an improvement over the oem. It was plug and play right out of the box, no configurations or updates needed. If there is one nitpick I have it’s that the slot for the usb-C is slightly narrower than the oem Xbox cable and it won’t fit so you have to use the cable that’s included with the Gamesir controller. It’s a nice, long braided cable so quality-wise that’s cool, but it was slightly annoying that I couldn’t used the cable I already had plugged in. The app was right there in the Microsoft Store to download and was very simple to navigate and play with the settings and set up your custom configurations of which you can store 3 plus the default configuration. The vibration is great out of the box in my opinion but you can customize it to your liking in the app and dial it up or down exactly how you prefer. The digital hair trigger works great. Obviously you can’t feel any difference in the triggers but when it’s activated even the slightest pressure on which ever trigger you designate registers as a full pull. There’s no direct way to turn the hair triggers on/off on the controller itself which would’ve been perfect but you can make a configuration profile with the hair trigger on and just switch back and forth as needed by holding the M button at the bottom middle of the controller and pressing either X, A or B depending on which profile you set up and then M and the Y button to go back to the stock configuration.Overall this is a great controller at a great price point, it’s not an exact fit and feel match to the oem controller but in many ways it’s just as good if not better. One final note, included in the box was a code for a month of Gamepass Ultimate. If you are already a monthly subscriber then essentially that saves you $20 that you were going to spend anyway so with this in mind that makes this controller even better value than it already is.TL;DR Buy it!

I’ve never written a review in the numerous years I’ve shopped on Bolo, but this controller changed that. What really hits you upon first using these, is just how snappy and responsive games feel. From FPS to sports games, my gameplay simply felt way quicker considering my inputs. The Nexus app makes it incredibly easy to map buttons, enable hair triggers, which is awesome for the price point. The size of the controller is great too, a little smaller than typical Xbox pads.Coming from Xbox Elite Series controllers for years prior, my only gripes would be switchable hair triggers on the controller itself (other GameSir pads have this feature) and non-adjustable sticks (KontrolFreeks solve that). I also wish that the HE had the on/off switches for the back buttons that the SE has. Those minor issues aside, I truly think I prefer this controller to the Elite, given the price and durability (Hall Effect sticks). The back buttons work great, and switching from the Elite controller is not difficult. The placement is similar to where the upper paddles would be, however the buttons are bigger, which helps in certain situations.I was skeptical regarding this brand and controllers they produce, due to the influx of TikTok advertisements, however I’m really glad I pulled the trigger on this. I couldn’t recommend it more, do not be hesitant to purchase.

If you're looking to not break the bank, this is a great gamepad to consider. The DualShock 4 has been my go-to for the last decade, and while I still prefer the dpad on the DS4 for most fighting games, the G7 HE dpad is still very solid. You can't argue with the ergonomics and quality of the G7 HE. Everything about it is very sleek and comfortable, although I will note that I have small hands, so it might not be the best fit for anyone with larger than average hands.Performance-wise, no issues to report. Buttons, triggers, etc, all feel great and work without issue. I like the software for configuring and mapping everything, although the calibration in the software is a bit wonky, I was unable to calibrate due to the right trigger not registering during calibration. Outside of calibration, RT works just fine, so it's probably a software issue. Either way, thankfully I was still able to calibrate using the method in the manual, check that out if you are experiencing the same problem.All-in-all, this is a great gamepad regardless of genre. Highly recommend.

Amazing responsive controller, especially for the price

Been using for a month and surprised I like it more than the stock xbox controller (and it's cheaper) With the windows app, I turned up the polling rate up to the max 1000 Hz for extra responsiveness (Note the max setting disables the headphone jack) And it does feel more responsive, love the buttons and especially the joysticks. And the two extra back buttons is enough for me. I haven't tried a controller with four back buttons, but that would be overkill for me and feel like it would be too crowded on the back. The controller + the two back buttons made me notably better at playing Black Ops 6. Also it being wired doesn't bother me as I'm close enough to my xbox and appreciate not having to recharge batteries anymore. Never heard of Gamesir until I saw good reviews of the previous version of this controller (SE model) and will for sure buy from them again.

Best overall third party controller to date

I used the GameSir G7 HE for about 3 weeks now.I actually was trying out the Elite 2 at the same time, which I bought locally, did a warranty on it, and ended up selling it, all in a week and a half lol. That's how buggy the Elite 2 is. Very unreliable. The G7 HE has no main issues, just a strange headphone jack issue. More on that below.****Buttons:I like everything about the ABXY buttons, sticks, and triggers.- ABXY are so satisfyingly clicky. Love that. I also like that they are colored, unlike the Elite 2 having only grey colors.- Sticks are so smooth, likewise the triggers (which have less tension than Xbox controllers and are smoother).- And, I'm really liking the shoulder buttons now. Satisfying click as well. I don't think it's micro-switch but it is quieter and more satisfying than both the Elite 2 and normal Xbox controller.- The Xbox button also has a nice click to it.- L4/R4 rear buttons clicks are a bit cheap but they work well. Great position. I prefer those to the Elite 2 since the Elite 2's paddle don't let me hold it well, which causes strain.- D-pad, this would be the downside of this controller. It's a bit harder to press than normal. Not sure why they designed it like this. It's not as easy to press as the Xbox Series controller, and so I don't always feel like using it, which is not good. I honestly felt like returning this due to this. Sure, they're satisfying, in their own way, but require a bit too much pressure. They're pretty quiet though, unlike the loud Xbox D-pad. The best D-pad, in my opinion, is the one on the Xbox One controller. I don't understand why Microsoft changed that one. It was pretty quiet and very easy to click and use.- You can mute the microphone by pressing the button next to the headphone jack. Another really handy button! It turns red when active (meaning, mic is muted).- The sticks have wear-resistant rings, and it does dampen the sound, making it quieter when hitting the edge, just like a PS5 controller, but I'm noticing that it does cause a bit of friction eventually as you rotate against it, most likely because the plastic of the sticks is hitting the plastic ring, thus causing some abrasion in both. It's still smooth, but putting the left stick up (since there's the one we use the most) has more friction now. Still smooth, for now, and much nicer feeling than the loud Xbox controller.- I don't like the location of the start and select buttons (those next to the Xbox button, also referred as menu and view). They're too high. The Xbox controller has the best location for them. But, they are clicky and I believe they are micro-switches (along with the share button, I think, though it sounds slightly different). However, they should have been a bit less "recessed" so that they can be pressed easier.****M key:The M key is probably using a normal button switch, quieter than the others, but I really like its functionality.- Hold that M key and use the D-pads up/down to raise/lower the headphone's volume. Reaching the lowest and highest volume does trigger an audible beep. This helps a lot.- Hold the M key and the D-pads right/left to raise/lower the voice chat volume (which also raises/lowers the game volume). Reaching the minimum, middle, and maximum volume does trigger an audible beep.- Hold the M key + LT or RT for 2 seconds to switch between normal trigger mode and hair trigger, which activates the triggers. I like that feature!- Hold the M key + rear L4 and R4 (the rear buttons) for 3 seconds, and the light blinks, indicating that you can now change the function of that rear button. From the manual, mappable buttons: A/B/X/Y/LB/RB/LT/RT/LS/RS/D-pad/Menu/View Button.- Change profile by holding the M key and ABXY to switch between default, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd profiles, which are set-up in the software.****Vibration:The vibration is well done. It does make a bit too much noise in the trigger vibration area, especially if your fingers aren't resting on there, which is rare, but the software allows you to choose the vibration level for all 4 areas, so that's easily fixable. The bottom vibration feels great. Not cheap feeling at all (I thought it would be).****Grip, weight, and shape:The silicone/rubber grip on the sides is superb and is better than the Elite 2's "rubber" (which was slippery). This one actually helps and sticks where you place it.The overall weight is much better than the Elite 2 as well. Elite 2 was too heavy, but high quality and had a nice feeling, which caused me to get tired quickly. The shape of this is actually really good. Now, it's not perfect. The part right behind the triggers is too pronounced and the middle of my finger that rests gets some friction, so it's annoying and you have to move your fingers every few minutes to reposition your hands. I don't understand why they built it like that. Xbox controller has the same issue but is a bit less than this one. The best would be like the Nintendo Switch Pro controller. They're the only ones that thought this through. Apart from that, the G7 HE is a bit thinner than the Xbox controller, which helps with holding it. It's more comfortable for long term usage, as long as you reposition your hands.Faceplate is removable (you can use the G7 SE's different faceplate colors), and the sticks as well, which makes this really easy to clean. You'll need to unscrew the screws to access the rest. It's a quality controller, to be honest, and feels good, but I am not sure how long it will last, especially since it's Chinese-made. I do hope it lasts, and it feels like it will, as some Chinese products that I have have lasted for many years and are still fine.****Headphone jack problem:The problem that I have wit the headphone jack is that it required a lot of force to enter the 3.5mm male headphone plug the first few times, and then finally I heard something cracking/breaking inside after entering it normally. The first few times caused a loud noise that hurt my ears, and the sound remained until I unplugged it. I'll be returning this and getting another.****Cable:The cable is too stiff and a bit too heavy, in my opinion, although long. I would have preferred a more flexible one, and normal rubber like the good old days of quality cables, so I'll try to find one as I have a few. But, they may not fit as the opening of the USB-C port is a bit narrow. I tried one and it didn't quite fit.****Software:The GameSir Nexus software can be installed on the Xbox Series X|S and on Windows 10 (and 11). It's actually a nice software and I was surprised. I was expecting cheap-looking and bad animation after trying out other Chinese companies' software a long time ago. This one is fast, looks good, and has nice animation. Configure everything in there, from button customization and trigger/stick sensitivity to vibration levels. You can test the buttons too. It's a lot like the Xbox Accessories software.Overall, I recommend this controller. The only 2 things that I don't really like is that shape issue mentioned above and the fact that it's not wireless. I really prefer wireless for consoles. I use wired everything usually but for console, since we sit far and people pass a lot over wires, unlike a laptop, I prefer wireless. Still, I fully recommend.Tip: If you plan on using a headphone of any kind, don't use the 500 nor 1000Hz modes as those disable the headphone jack. Stick to 250Hz. Note that you can't change those modes on the Xbox's GameSir Nexus software but only on Windows.
