5.0 out of 5 stars Great keyboard, easily modified, mediocre software
This is my first hot-swappable keyboard, and I'm quite happy with it. I got this after using Razer and Corsair gaming keyboards, and I find this keyboard to be vastly superior for the same price, even right out of the box before modifications. My royal blue board came with butter ice-cream linear switches, and they provide a rather nice sound. Nice, but not for me. They're a little too loud for my taste, I prefer a thockier switch. That said, I didn't modify this board to be thocky, I modified it to be quiet. I put some silent linear switches in here, and found the hot-swap to be very easy. I had a little difficulty getting the enter key-switch on the numpad to come out, but otherwise had no issues. I just had to apply some more time and more force on that one, and fortunately nothing broke or bent. The keycaps are nice, but I'm not a huge fan of cherry profile so I switched them. I might change them back someday, they were good enough that it was a difficult decision.I also opened the board up. My intention was to do a tape mod, but I don't think I'll need to, I like the sound as it is now. That said, I discovered that this board opens very easily. It has 8 screws on bottom requiring a hexagonal screwdriver (I have a kit of heads, so that was easy), and comes right apart once all 8 are out. This does have an all-aluminum case. This keyboard is very heavy, and does not have any ping sound. It does have a lot of foam inside of it, so that's probably part of the reason why. I have seen some videos of people taking the foam out and the ping sound is still just minimal after removal, so this keyboard seems to be quite well made. It does not have adjustable feet. The screen is nice, but I haven't played around with it at all - I don't want a stupid .gif on my keyboard, my ADHD brain would be distracted by it all the time. I have liked the default screen, though; it displays a clock, the date, battery life remaining, and which locks are toggled on (caps, num, windows, etc.).The software is ok. Good enough to be functional, but I'm a pretty basic person, I just want a white static backlight, and I don't even need the software for that. I do have the software installed. It was kind of a pain to find, but it is on their website and on the WhatGeek website as well. You could buy this there, but I wouldn't, personally. I trust Bolo more, and the delivery from Bolo is quick.
