The occulink port allowing me to plug in my massive GPU is a huge plus. An extreme amount of storage allows me to process my photos easily. It's a very fast unit that also works well for programming. The fan is near silent. Way better than a laptop for heat management too.

This review is for the AD78 Ryzen 7 7840HS with 32 GB DDR5 and 1 TB SSD.I purchased this solely for a couch gaming machine. I installed Bazzite OS HTPC Version and am running steam. I formatted over Windows, so I can't comment on how well Windows would run.This machine works flawlessly. Every connection and component is as advertised and impressive. My little machine boots in a hurry, and runs my games at a great framerate. It has been so good that I am thinking I might just throw out my old desktop at home and replace it with one of these.One note, since I couldn't find it anywhere: to boot into the BIOS, use the DEL key.

I am extremely pleased beyond expectations with this remarkable mini pc. The UM 890 performs as well as I'm used to with my DIY desktop with a 12700k and DDR4 RAM. Plus I get the advantage of so much freedom of space. The best part is the great support from Minisforum prior to receiving and during the setup of the unit. Great advice and guidance in a friendly personal manner. The unit itself has a neat magnetic cover to avoid having to screw and unscrew when adding or upgrading Ram or drives. They included the occulink adapter which I might use later on. Right now I'm getting perfect 4k 144 Hz display on and M32u 32" monitor better looking then the 1080 Ti I was used to. Thank you Minisforum for a great product and service. I look forward to more.

UPDATE 1/4/25 - The UM980 has an issue with Windows 24H2, I confirmed this with Minisforum. Their recommendation was to go back to 23H2, but though to do when MS doesn't offer it anymore. Minisforum knowing about the issue, removed the page for support of the UM980, including the links to drivers. I did get them to send me links to 3rd party pages that they claim have the drivers for this model. I assume once MS fixes the issues, Minisforum will again post their support page, but in the mean time I had to perform a clean install from Windows USB bootable device, and now this machine doesn't have updated drivers and seems to workHad this running for about a week now, it runs very cool compared with Ryzen 9 6900HX, and performs even better, and better frame rates! I would recommend this computer. I do wish MinisForum had better documentation and support, but I can figure things out when needed.

I was not able to install linux, it says to disable the secure boot mode. but in the bios security settings, the secure mode settings is disabled.Finaly found the solution to make the bios changes. Installing the ssd on the port allocated for occulink.After a month it stopped booting, do you guys have any service center in bangalore, India?

Took off one star for poor / no real tech support however you if you dont need a lot this machine is very fast quiet and reliable
