5.0 out of 5 stars Big improvement over the original F7!
Full disclosure: I love Atoto. They might not be a big name like Pioneer or Alpine, but they are one of the best of the inexpensive imports. I owned the original F7 back when it came out, and also used Atoto's A6 and S8 lines, and even recently got to try their new X10 flagship. Suffice to say, I've installed a lot of radios in a lot of different cars, including some big brands, but I still use and recommend Atoto. They listen to their users and have rolled out updates/fixes in a way I'm not used to support from other brands- even the big ones. There's even a FB community in which representatives from Atoto hang out and help answer questions. But enough about the company, let's discuss this product:Unlike the S8/A6/X10 which run their own version of Android, the F7 series is unique in that it is an appliance-driven device. It supports Android Auto and Car Play if you want to project the smart features of your phone, but on it's own it is just a very basic car radio. That means it will support Bluetooth, FM, backup camera feed, etc. But it can't install and run its own apps. That's fine for most people who aren't looking for more than that. There are definitely pros and cons to this. Some people want the simplicity of an appliance rather than another "smart device" in their car. While I love their Android offerings, there are clearly some things that just work better on the simple UI of the F7. The backup camera in particular, has better control of where the guidelines go, and it makes more sense to people who are used to traditional car radio operation.Personally, I actually really liked the reliability of my F7 but one of the big reasons I moved on from my original model is the microphone quality. It was terrible. It also didn't support wireless Android Auto / Carplay, and I hated having to always plug in my phone. I had to move on to the S8 to resolve that, but the S8 is a very different product as mentioned earlier, arguably overkill for just those features. Thankfully this is no longer a concern! This new F7 model supports wireless everything, and it appears that they finally addressed the weak microphone input. And the current asking price is about what I recall my original F7 cost, but back then it didn't come with the backup camera! This seems like a solid deal from a good brand.Yes, there are cheaper radios with similar features, and Atoto may not be the household brand name that the more expensive models can justify, but like I said, I still believe they are one of the best of the cheap brands and I would not overlook this if you are on a budget.
4.0 out of 5 stars Updated my original atoto head unit
My first atoto Android radio always was inconsistent with connecting via Android Auto despite performing multiple firmware updates. This unit has the same features as my old unit, but has a better processor. The reduced lag time after icon touch was worth upgrading for. So far, Android Auto has worked without connection issues. The audio output quality is acceptable, but not as good as it should be.
5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome car stereo!!
I decided to get this for my old but yet full of live 2003 2dr Tacoma. I purchased my truck with an already aftermarket stereo but it still wasn't modern and I wasn't too happy with the volume knob being broken. However, I took my truck to a local mom and pop shop where this stereo was installed and I was told the installation process was straight forward and fairly easy. What took the most time consumption was the installation of the camera. Not that it was difficult for them, but it just took a few minutes longer in comparison to just installing the stereo and the mic.Now I have this modern stereo with built-in bluetooth, rear camera and even supports both for me to accept calls on the road and what I love the most is how the maps on my iphone is displayed on the screen of the stereo. I really love this stereo and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their older vehicle and give it a modern aftermarket part.
5.0 out of 5 stars sounds good
This is a really nice upgrade for an old vehicle. It sounds good, connects to a phone quickly, and is less buggy than other android based radios I've used. The buttons are easy to press while driving, too. my one issue that I've had with this is sometimes the phone refuses to connect, and the radio goes to fm after 30 seconds. Power cycling the radio by holding the mute button fixes it, and it only happens about twice a month.
5.0 out of 5 stars AtotoLife Double Din car stereo with backup camera
This is a great car stereo with backup camera. I got this for my son because his radio went out. He installed it easily and it works nicely. He has an Android phone and connected it to his stereo without any issues. It is working good so far and has great sound. I recommend this if you're looking for a good quality radio on a budget.
3.0 out of 5 stars Great stereo
Update: This radio is causing 600mA of parasitic draw off my battery. After installing this my car battery died, so I check all my connections and they appear correct. I then tested parasitic draw without the radio connected and it was 6mA. Once I connected the radio its 605mA. This is way too much draw.I installed this on a 2000 Chevy Camaro SS. The fit is near perfect. The metal side mounting brackets were not long enough for my car, but the Metra double din installation kit had side mounts that were able to work with this radio. I also connected the Axxess ASWC-1 steering wheel control with this radio and my steering wheel controls work. I have had two other china radios and from my limited time with this one it is so far the best one. The audio going to the speakers sound good. The Android Auto connects wirelessly very quickly and so far hasn't had any problems. The touchscreen is very nice too. I like that this has physical buttons along the bottom for skipping or adjusting volume. As of today there isn't anything negative I can say about this radio. If things change I will update this review.
