5.0 out of 5 stars Good starter set
I ordered this set to try out magnet fishing. It seemed like an affordable way to get everything I needed to get started. All the items included in this set seem to be good enough quality to determine if I like the hobby. From there I can decide if I want to upgrade or drop the hobby. The only thing I would like to see changed it some printed instructions for getting things initially setup, electronic instructions are included but those are not always as convenient to read as printed pages.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect kit to get started
I have always wanted to try out magnet fishing. This kit has everything you need to get started. The rope is plenty long enough and the magnet is plenty strong enough to hold onto whatever you grab onto. It's a lot of fun tossing it out. I haven't found anything of great value yet, but it is fun trying.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fishing Magnet is nice but overrated
The Magnet Fishing Kit comes with all kinds of accessories (most of which I will never use), including a 65 foot rope with carabiner ends (I'll use that), rope winder (won't use), gloves (too small; won't use), very thin carrying bag (won't use), a plastic scraper (why? won't use), a bottle of thread locking compound (may use for other projects), a free eBook (won't use) and a huge three-prong grappling hook (very cool looking and may be useful if I go fishing for a whale). The main point of this purchase was to get the magnet so I could "fish" for civil war relics down old wells. The magnet is very nice with two ways to attach it to the rope (one way allows things to be captured from the side and the other way allows things to be captured from the top). Things are heavily plated to prevent rusting. While the magnet is quite nice, it is advertised as having 1,250 lbs of attractive force. Personally, I cannot lift 1,250 lbs, so I should not be able to remove the magnet from a ferromagnetic item by pulling it straight away from the object. In an experiment, I stuck the magnet on the half-inch thick steel top of my AISI 1018 low-carbon steel welding table. I was able to pull it off with both hands. Either I have developed super-human strength, or the specification in the Bolo description is in error. Maybe 125 lbs?
5.0 out of 5 stars Family Treasure Hunts Just Got More Exciting
We recently got this magnet fishing kit, and the whole family is buzzing with excitement to give it a try. The grandkids are already planning our next adventure to the local creek, dreaming about the "treasures" we might pull up. The kit feels solid, and the 65-foot rope gives us plenty of reach to explore. The double-sided magnet is impressively strong and should be able to handle whatever we latch onto. I can see the included hook coming in handy when we need a little extra help retrieving something heavy or awkwardly shaped. Even though we haven't tested it out yet, it's clear this kit is going to add a fun new twist to our outdoor outings. Can't wait to see what we discover together!
5.0 out of 5 stars Excited Trying
I have always wanted to try magnet fishing so I'm really excited getting this. There's everything you need to get started. For a beginner this kit is good quality to see if its something I want to continue. Electronic instructions included for those that are tech savvy and can pull-up anytime.
Everything you need to get started in magnet fishing
If you are not sure what magnet fishing is then you are in the same boat that I was in. I had never heard of it until I found an article explaining how this hobby is becoming very popular. It is a very simple hobby that involves dropping a very strong magnet in the water and seeing what treasures or junk you can find.It can be very exciting since you never know what you will haul up.This magnet fishing kit comes with everything you need to magnet fish. The set comes with a powerful 1250-pound double-sided magnet, protective gloves, 65 feet of rope, a rope winder, a grappling hook, thread lock, a carrying bag, 2 carabiners, a plastics scraper, and a microfiber cloth. The magnet is double-sided and will hold up to 625 pounds on each side.Using this is very simple. You attach the rope to the magnet with one of the eye hooks provided. The eye hooks attach to the magnet and you use the thread locker to make sure they don't come off.You then throw the magnet into the water and drag it along the bottom until you feel resistance. You then haul up whatever the magnet has attached to.You can use the plastic scraper to remove your find from the magnet. This truly is a treasure hunt and ideal for use on a pier or a shoreline where things get dropped into the water. It is a lot of fun for everyone and if you remove whatever you find from the water then it is a nice way of cleaning up the water as well if you discard properly the items you do not want to keep. One warning though. Do not let the magnet get close to your electronic devices as it could destroy them. This set is very well put together and there is nothing else you need to purchase. The price is very fair and it saves you a lot of money having everything already in one set.I do recommend this to anyone who wants to get into magnet fishing or if you want to upgrade your current set.
A nice, complete kit
This kit seems to have everything you’d want to start hunting for sunken treasure. The magnet is nice, 2.5” to 3” across, and good pull force. I tried lifting my heavier 50lb iron dumbbells, and with about 40% coverage it was right at its limit. I would expect at least 125lbs no problem. But then I put the magnet flat against a loose plate, and, I could not get it off I had to labouriously slide it to the curved edge of the weight before I could get it off. SomI can’t say if you’ll really get 625lbs or not, but unless you’ve got a pulley, then if you can land a perfect shot then you’ll probably give out before the magnet does. The rope is good quality, non stretching kind, about 5/16” diameter, no complaints. The caribe ears are smallish, but they have the locking nuts which I really appreciate. They’re not beefy like a climbing one, so avoid shock loads, but should be in the right range for this kit. Also comes with a little grappling hook for getting up some oddball items, and a drying cloth and carrying bag. A good spread overall.
Good Started Kit for Magnet "Fishing"
We ordered this set to give it a try. We both fish, so have lost our fair share of lures in the weeds. The magnet is a decent size. We placed it on a 25lb dumbbell and it was able to pick it up (although, rather awkward) The set comes with everything needed, to get us started. The rope feels secure as does the carabiner clips. The included instructions could have been a bit more explanatory, but there is also an online option for you to reference. We will see in the spring, what treasures, this magnet will find, at "the bottom of the sea."
Fun activity with kids!
This magnet fishing kit will be a lot of fun with the kids! We plan to use it out on a lake with our stand up paddle boards and hopefully find some treasures! The kit has everything you need including a mesh bag to carry everything and the magnet is super strong. Strong enough that you have to store it carefully so it’s not near anything like electronics that it could ruin. The grappling hook is cool, although I’m not sure we’ll use it while on the water as we’re mainly looking for smaller items. The rope is good quality as well and looks like it will stand up to abrasions bumping into things under the water. For around $50 this kit is going to offer a lot of fun next summer!
Comprehensive and High-Quality Fishing Magnet Kit
After using this magnet fishing kit a few times, I can confidently say it’s one of the best outdoor purchases I’ve made. The magnet is seriously strong—it doesn’t let go of anything once it latches on. I’ve pulled up some unexpected finds, from an old wrench to small bits of scrap metal, and it’s held up beautifully each time. I was surprised by how easily it grabbed onto heavy, submerged items. The rope is another standout. It’s just the right length and feels incredibly durable, even when wet. I really appreciate the two carabiners on either end; they make it easy to secure everything and feel safer while I’m fishing. The cut-resistant gloves were a lifesaver, especially when handling rusted items, and the grappling hook has come in handy when the magnet alone couldn’t get the job done.
