This is a review of "Sur La Table Kitchen Essential Carbon Steel Bakeware Set W/Premium PFA Free Grey Ceramic Nonstick - Black Exterior"I have mostly very positive things to say about this set of bakeware and it is absolutely worthy of consideration, as you'd expect with a set from Sur La Table. First, the carbon steel construction is very solid -- you really can't bend these pans, they are very good quality, rigid, and will last much longer than the nonstick surface inside (which is hopefully also very durable). Kudos also for calling this a five-piece set instead pretending that the removable bottom of the tart pan makes it six-pieces. As an "essentials" set, I think the selection of pans is also a good one, and I also aesthetically like the two-tone look. I really only have two reservations. One, I wish they didn't have raised brand logos on the bottoms of all the pans. I am worried this will make them a little harder to clean / a little less non-stick. Second, the baking sheet is on the smaller side. I think most people into baking cookies will want half-sheet 13x19" baking sheets vs the 10x15" included in the set. Overall, four stars and a solid choice.

I got rid of my Teflon pans due to toxicity and bought these ceramic pans. I love them and think they were a decent value, I would buy again.

These look beautiful when you first open them. Once they are used and washed they get scratched and they rust. Would not recommend this item.

This set is better than the usual starter baking sets. Here's why:Very heavy steel with wire reinforced rimsThicker than usual ceramic coating on pan interiorsNo flanges on cake pans - better fit in countertop ovensNearly straight sides on cake pans - better looking frosted cakes than more tapered pansLoaf pan is narrow size, better fit for many bread and meatloaf recipes than 5" wide pansInstead of a round cake pan or pie plate, this set includes an approx 8" fluted removable bottom tart panA few negatives that lost it a star:Exterior of pans are coated with a different, harder to clean material, not the same as the inside nonstickSheet pan is small, about 1/4 sheet size. As shown in the pictures, it will bake about 6 big cookies or sheet pan dinner for oneTart pan is small and shallow. Will work well for tart recipes but most pie recipes will need to be adjusted to 1/2 or 2/3 quantityVery good quality and a nice starter set for beginning bakers or small kitchens.
