4.0 out of 5 stars Good durable coverage, but there are safety caveats.
Drawdart 18 Colors Face Painting Markers are very good body art brush markers with some safety concerns.Pros:•None of the markers arrived dried out•Brush tips were good for making both thick and thin lines•Paint had good coverage and included metallic colors•Paint was not runny and didn't creep along fine wrinkles in my skin•Paint dried quickly and didn't run on first rinse (so no danger of getting paint on nearby clothing)•Very durable (see image) - very little change after 24 hours and only mild-modest degradation at 48 hours•Most of the paint came off with hand sanitizer and the remaining traces with rubbing alcohol and a little elbow greaseComments and caveats:•You can do a bit of ombre but you have to be very fast. Paint colors layer on top of each other rather than blend because they dry so quickly•Directions (and FDA regulations) say to avoid getting in eyes or mouth so I don't think their box cover showing a kid with a spiderweb drawn around his eye is appropriate•The ingredients (see below) are all cosmetic ingredients mostly considered safe, but which can be contaminated by things like heavy metals depending on where the raw materials come from - remembering that Chinese soils can be heavily contaminated with industrial pollutants. In addition some of the colorants are potential endocrine disrupters. This particular product appears to have been manufactured after new, stricter Chinese regulations for cosmetics (including a special set of regulations for children's cosmetics) went into effect, but one would have to trust the company's testing results or find independent testing data to be sure the product is truly safe, especially for children.Although I myself would be OK wearing small amounts of these for a short time (e.g. to a party), ***I personally would not apply these to my grandchild because I could not find independent testing data with an internet search and I cannot tell which markers have the colorants of greatest concern in them***Water, Acrylates Copolymer, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Propanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, May Contain (+/-) CI 77891, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 42090, CI 77007, CI 19140, CI 15985, CI 16035CI 77492 (yellow iron oxide)CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide)CI 77499 (red iron oxide)CI 77499 (Black Iron Oxide)CI 42090 (Blue 1)CI 77007 (Ultramarine)CI 19140 (Yellow Lake)CI 15985 (Yellow 6)CI 16035 (Red 4)
5.0 out of 5 stars Really nice face/body markers, although may be a bit hard to remove
This is a nice set of face and body painting markers. There is a nice range of colors. The markers have tapered brush tips which allow for varying degrees of thin to thick marks. They should last about a year after opening, according to the box. The markers aren’t individually sealed, but the box is sealed tightly in plastic. The plastic was a bit hard to get off.COLORS:Besides your full rainbow, brown, black, white, and a few extra shades, there are a few fluorescent shades and two metallic markers. The colors are very vibrant and the marks are very precise and sharp. There are two purple markers. It seems like their barrel/tube colors got mixed up. One is more of a chalky, lighter bright purple, and the other is more of a deeper, grape type of purple leaning slightly on the red side. The markers don’t really seem to blend, but you can make them appear to blend by how many layers you apply over another color.REMOVAL:I tested these markers on my hand. The black seems to stick to the skin the best. It was the hardest to remove. They don’t come off with water, but they can start to fade a bit when rubbed under running water, especially if they aren’t fully dry. Soap helps get some of the lighter colors off. Makeup remover works best, but it still take some work and scrubbing to remove.MY OPINION:The markers are easy to use and apply. I love the brush tips, and vibrancy and variety of colors. The metallic ones are really cool and I wish they included a few more colors like these. I wish this set had a gray marker, and maybe a gold or bronze metallic one. Once dry (they dry really fast!), they don’t smudge or smear at all. Removing the ink was a lot more difficult than I thought, even with makeup remover, as suggested. My skin did get irritated from the scrubbing, but not from the markers themselves.FINAL THOUGHTS:I’m not sure how well these would work on oily or sweaty skin, as I haven’t tested this. I think it’s best to wipe the skin down first if you want the markers to last a long time. These would be great for Halloween, festivals, fairs, cosplay, and theme parties, as well as a way to show support for sports teams, people, or causes at events or large gatherings. They could also be used at an entrance to an event to mark people’s hand/wrist to show that they paid, entered, etc.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good alternative to temporary tattoos
These face painting markers are great to use in place of temporary tattoos for a more personalized touch. They also do the job of face paint with a bit more ease and control since you are holding a marker and not a brush. Low odor and so far no skin reactions. I don't use them on the face though since even with soap and water, and baby wipes, I can still see a little remnant of color. Great to do on hands or arms for a fun face painting booth at a party. They go on pretty vividly.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works Better Than I Expected
I am giving this product five stars because in this price range and based on how these pens function, I don’t think that you could expect much more. The pens work well for the price. These pens look and function just like markers. They are super easy to use and are not messy. I was surprised at how well that they worked because I was expecting them to skip or for me to have to use a lot of force to get results, but nope - they write like a dream! Even better, the “ink” stays on! I can get the ink wet, and it will still stay on. I actually have to scrub it to get it off once dried. If you are looking for a cheap option to do some face painting detail work, these should do it for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bold and Bright Colors
I was really impressed with the Drawdart 18 Colors Face Painting Markers; I liked the metallic silver and blue the best. They write really smooth and are opaque on skin, so I was able to easily make clear, beautiful drawings. They washed off with soap and water easily as well. I definitely recommend them.
