This hourglass is very stylish and matches almost any decor. It comes in three sand colors, and I got the red one, which is original and stunning. The item (including the metallic pillars and wooden base) is quite heavy, which I appreciate as it gives a sense of sturdiness; as far as I can tell, the gas itself looks/feels thick. It came well-protected, as expected in these types of fragile items. The current price on Bolo is $20, which I consider an excellent deal and a price I would pay knowing what I know now (I ordered it through the Vine program and will pay only 30% of the full price as income tax). Five stars, hand down.
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Hourglass with Golden Pillars and Well-Protected Glass
I enjoy having an hourglass marking time on my desk. It provides me with a few seconds of “nothing time” as I take a brief break and stare at it. This is the third hourglass I’ve ordered from this company. All of them have been accurate within one minute or so (measured several times), which is wonderful for an hourglass. The glass is pretty sturdy as I had knocked it over and it hadn’t broken. But I had forgotten the skills in destruction that a four-year-old has! I’ve had three because the first broke after I let my four-year-old grandchild play with it. Oh well, so I bought a second one, and that one has been working just fine (and I don’t let grandchildren play with it!).So why did I order this third hourglass? It’s a new model, and it’s just so darn pretty! I love the golden-colored pillars contrasting with the black base and the red sand. Now I have two beautiful hourglasses! I smile when I see these, and I can whole-heartedly recommend them to you.

I really liked the looks of this and was super happy when I got the opportunity to get a review sample. This does match the images, but the red sand is not quite as vibrant, it is close and still looks great. I did attempt to time this, and found that the very last bit of sand clogged up at about 58 minutes or so. This is within their 5 minute variance, and I'm happy I got one that's closer than farther out. I'm not sure if the clog happened because of a larger piece of sand, or just from there being almost no weight on the remaining sand, but it seemed like a large piece of sand or clump because it took a couple of flips back and forth to free it up again.The build does feel a bit on the cheap side, though at least currently this is prices very reasonably. The black supports are made of plastic, and although they feel solid and sturdy, they still just feel like plastic. I think using wood would have given this a much more premium feel. The support pipes also feel very thin, but not weak. Using solid supports would probably make this cost a lot more to make, but would have given a more premium feel.Overall, I did have an issue with a clog, and on up close inspection the hourglass does have a bit of a cheap feel to it, but I think very good for the price. It still looks fantastic, and I really like it. My unit is nearly right on the hour mark, but even if it's within their 5 minute variance I think this is pretty good for a product like this. I like how this times a full hours vs some others that only run for a shorter time.

I've always been fascinated by the design and function of the hourglass, as the sands trickle through and mark the passage of time. I was happy to add this hourglass to our home decor - it's lovely! It stands 10 inches tall and features a solid wood base framed by small golden pillars. It takes about 60 minutes for the sands to flow (give or take a few minutes). You have the option of getting different colors of sand, including white, black or red. It makes a wonderful decoration for your home, or an excellent gift! It arrives carefully packaged and ready to mark time. Highly recommended!

I love dramatic pieces throughout our home, and this caged hourglass is just what I love. It screams that it is a high-end piece.What is so beautiful about this hourglass is the clear, beautiful, flawless glass that contains a flat black sand that is so fine that it goes through the opening to the other side at an hour’s time, hence the 60 minute hourglass. What I also absolutely adore about it is that it’s caged within gold posts, and beautiful black wood that is on the top and the bottom. The price was very reasonable as well, and I am very happy to have it.Our hourglass is 10” tall X 3.7” wide. This makes it perfect to fit on almost any counter-space or on a section of hidden shelving. It’s so beautiful that I could even place it in our living room where the library is. It would be a very nice place to put it next to some nice old books I think.They had other colors of sand that you could choose from but for me, I prefer the classics and that black sand just spoke out to me. When I got home, I was very very glad that I chose the black sand against the gold and black exterior. It’s absolutely beautiful.

This hourglass is gorgeous!! It is a bit heavier than I was expecting it to be, which is perfect so it doesn't fall over easily. The base is thick, and the glass is just thick enough that it doesn't feel like it could break easily. The red sand inside is very pretty, and looks great when you turn the hourglass over. It is a beautiful decor piece, and looks great on a table with other decor!

I ordered this hourglass for my teen son because he has an eclectic taste and it seemed like something he would love. And I was right. He absolutely loves it. It looks really expensive and is very sturdy and well made. It's also super fun and enjoyable to watch. The only caveat is that we have timed it using our cellphones three different times and it is definitely not an "hour" glass. The sand empties completely in 55 minutes. My son plans to use this as a decorative piece, so it doesn't matter much to him. I didn't remove a star because in the description of the item, it clearly states that there is a deviation of five minutes. So if you are getting this hourglass to accurately time yourself, know that it has limited accuracy. It's still so cool and I highly recommend it!
