5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Hourglass with Golden Pillars and Well-Protected Glass
I enjoy having an hourglass marking time on my desk. It provides me with a few seconds of “nothing time” as I take a brief break and stare at it. This is the third hourglass I’ve ordered from this company. All of them have been accurate within one minute or so (measured several times), which is wonderful for an hourglass. The glass is pretty sturdy as I had knocked it over and it hadn’t broken. But I had forgotten the skills in destruction that a four-year-old has! I’ve had three because the first broke after I let my four-year-old grandchild play with it. Oh well, so I bought a second one, and that one has been working just fine (and I don’t let grandchildren play with it!).So why did I order this third hourglass? It’s a new model, and it’s just so darn pretty! I love the golden-colored pillars contrasting with the black base and the red sand. Now I have two beautiful hourglasses! I smile when I see these, and I can whole-heartedly recommend them to you.

I love dramatic pieces throughout our home, and this caged hourglass is just what I love. It screams that it is a high-end piece.What is so beautiful about this hourglass is the clear, beautiful, flawless glass that contains a flat black sand that is so fine that it goes through the opening to the other side at an hour’s time, hence the 60 minute hourglass. What I also absolutely adore about it is that it’s caged within gold posts, and beautiful black wood that is on the top and the bottom. The price was very reasonable as well, and I am very happy to have it.Our hourglass is 10” tall X 3.7” wide. This makes it perfect to fit on almost any counter-space or on a section of hidden shelving. It’s so beautiful that I could even place it in our living room where the library is. It would be a very nice place to put it next to some nice old books I think.They had other colors of sand that you could choose from but for me, I prefer the classics and that black sand just spoke out to me. When I got home, I was very very glad that I chose the black sand against the gold and black exterior. It’s absolutely beautiful.

This is a real functioning hourglass. I was surprised to find it's made of actual glass metal and wood. It's durable and light weight. The hourglass is 10 inches tall and well made with gold tone metal pillars and a wooden base. The actual hourglass part is made of real glass featuring white sand. The glass is clear and not cloudy looking. Sometimes the glass part of hourglasses looks cloudy but not this one. If you're looking for a quality functioning hourglass or a conversation starter consider this one.

I ordered this hourglass for my teen son because he has an eclectic taste and it seemed like something he would love. And I was right. He absolutely loves it. It looks really expensive and is very sturdy and well made. It's also super fun and enjoyable to watch. The only caveat is that we have timed it using our cellphones three different times and it is definitely not an "hour" glass. The sand empties completely in 55 minutes. My son plans to use this as a decorative piece, so it doesn't matter much to him. I didn't remove a star because in the description of the item, it clearly states that there is a deviation of five minutes. So if you are getting this hourglass to accurately time yourself, know that it has limited accuracy. It's still so cool and I highly recommend it!

This hourglass is a lovely functional decor piece. It arrived well-packaged and was free from any damage when opened. The black base and gold columns pair beautifully with the red sand, which glimmers while falling under the right light. When I first flipped the hourglass, a bit of sand clung to the side of the glass. After a few more cycles, the sand no longer clings to the glass, and I get consistently timed cycles.

I got this for the hope that it really is an accurate, portable 1-hour timer. That was a mistake. The box says it's a 30 minute timer, the description says 60 minute timer, yet when I timed it it's a 55 minute 20 second timer. This is not accurate at all. The only good about this was that it was shipped and packaged well and didn't come damaged. The idea is nice but this is very poorly executed. There is very little or just terrible quality control. They didn't use locking nuts (so the nuts can unscrew very easily) and the bars are two different pieces that are cheaply made. It looks nice, but that's about it. Also, there is a lot of static built up inside the glass. After the sand has been emptied, there is still sand stuck on glass.

The hourglass works reasonably well, and from far away looks fine. The glass is clear and the sand is fine looking. However, closeup you can feel how it feels less luxury. The metal poles are in place very loosely, even after I hand tightened them. Additionally, they're just held on with nuts on the top and bottom with little dome brass feet loosely glued on. One of the feet fell off in shipping, and there's really no way to put it back on without my soldering or gluing it back, which means it doesn't stand perfectly level anymore. That's disappointing as I was looking forward to a nice hourglass to display on my desk and help track some time and ergonomics (stand and walk around every hour, etc...). I'd go with another brand.
