5.0 out of 5 stars For the price and beyond it is a very helpful addition to my cooking tools
I have enjoyed having this equipment because I insist that the meat that I eat if very lean and the only way I have found that to happen it to purchase select cuts of meat and aggressively trim the meat myself and with this I can have it ground as well.I will likely find other uses for this equipment. It works like a charm.I am sure that following the instructions will give it a long and safe life cycle.I have nor tried to grind half a cow at once but it is clearly not for that.I have not ground fatty meats with this product and it suggests to try and avoid a lot of that.I have ground meat with some fatty, grisly portions and it is not as happy as it is with the lean meats: seems like this may subtract from its longevity if one does that on a continuous basis.I have found that mine works best if the meat is very cold and or every so slightly soft-frozen but that is not necessary.the unit advises to try not to grind more then 3 minutes at a time.three minutes may seem short but if everything is prepared it will easily do 3 pounds in that 3 minutes. My four star rating for ease of cleaning, ease of use and ease of assembly is because I am very mechanically inclined and it was a breeze for me but not everyone is so some my have a little more difficulty but nothing to hinder them after they use it once or twice.
5.0 out of 5 stars A DEFINITE GREAT BUY AND NOT JUST FOR MAKING DOG FOOD!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely love this meat grinder!!!!!!!!! I purchased this I believe it was around a year ago because unlike many others who apparently use it to make food for their dogs I wanted to try making better tasting burgers, meatballs, etc. while at the same time even though, yes, I’m eating red meat I wanted it to be the freshest, healthiest, etc. that I could use especially after watching many documentaries by RELIABLE resources as to how most of the animals (especially on ‘factory farms’) who supply the majority of the meat in this country are raised, fed and treated and then processed........UGH!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention SOME unscrupulous supermarkets that rewrap meat after spraying it with chemicals to give it that ‘fresh looking’ red colour after it’s TRUE ‘Use By Date’ or however they label it and changing the label with a new date so they can sell it and at full price!!!!! I also always love to support our small businesses as much as I possibly can and know as much as I can as to where our food has been sourced from and under what conditions. Anyway, this was truly a total experiment on my part.......lol!!!!!!!!!! I hadn’t told my husband about this purchase but he happened to be home when the grinder was delivered and WOW did I get a bunch of ‘you know what’ for ‘wasting money’ on something we’d probably never use, didn’t need, was a ‘waste of money, etc. (little did he know I had already gone to the local butcher and when I say butcher this is a place that if you go in the wrong door you’ll be greeted with whole animals hanging from the ceiling!!!!!!) and purchased the freshest most beautiful meat for a fraction of the cost of the price at the supermarket!!!!!!!!! Well, since I’m physically disabled (even though if I had to set the grinder up myself I certainly could have as it wasn’t terribly heavy or difficult to set up) even though he was not happy with the whole idea my husband unpacked the grinder, set it all up and then he even took the big chunks of various meats I’d purchased from the butcher and started cutting them into fairly sizable portions which would fit into the grinder. I was all set to take over at any point but the further he got the more he started to look like a little kid who started playing with his favorite Christmas toy!!!!!!!!!! But, WOW, when he turned the grinder on and started feeding the strips/chunks of meat into it he was having more fun than I’d seen him have in a long time........LOL!!!!!! This grinder went through about 15 lbs. of meat in what felt like a blink of the eye which made my husband ask (with an extremely disappointed look on his face) “Is that all the meat there is?????” He even (under my instructions of course 😉) mixed and separated the proper portions of the different types of meat keeping the different mixtures together........one for hamburgers, one for meatballs, etc.,etc. That evening we had a friend over for a ‘cookout’ (the burgers were cooked perfectly medium rare via Sous Vide (using my Joule....... another awesome purchase made during a ‘lightening deal’ on Bolo.....lol!!!!!!) BUT the burgers were seared on the outside on the grill so technically it was a ‘cookout’.......lol!!!!!!!!!!! I waited with baited breath as both my husband and our friend took their first bite out of my ‘new style’ hamburger 🍔 and when the two of them could finally talk they absolutely raved about it being the best hamburger they’d ever had.........TRUE SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!! We don’t use the grinder on a regular base simply because when I go to the butcher I purchase enough meat to prepare enough at one time to vacuum seal a bunch to have on hand in the freezer which certainly came in extremely handy when COVID reared its ugly head ☹️ My husband actually apologized and has promised he will never again get upset or accuse me of ‘wasting money”, etc. on my ‘kitchen gadgets’ as he won’t even let me near what has now become HIS meat grinder 😀 not to mention how impressed he is with how the Joule always cooks everything to absolute perfection!!!!!!!! 🎉🙂 We’re still in the process of trying different meat mixtures (types and portions) and actually halving fun with it. The price on this meat grinder has definitely made it well worth it also for the amount of money we save buying directly from the butcher, grinding the meat ourselves and hopefully eventually we’ll be able to purchase the meat in bulk (increasing the savings even more) with a group of others as it’s not feasible for us to do on our own. The only HUGE WARNING I DO HAVE IS DON’T EVER PUT ANY PART(S) OF THIS MACHINE IN THE DISHWASHER!!!!!!!!!!!!'!!! WASH EVERYTHING BY HAND (which is NOT difficult!!!!!!!) Unfortunately my husband didn’t realize this so he put the meat tray in the dishwasher and now it’s. completely ruined 😠 I don’t know if there’s any way I can purchase just that as a replacement part. I sure hope so because for the time being we have to keep borrowing the tray from our daughter’s machine which we had gotten her for Christmas since we had enjoyed ours so much but it’s extremely inconvenient especially because! Like I stated earlier, I’m physically disabled and am unable to just jump in the car and quickly go over to borrow it easily. Anyway, I guess from all the reviews I read if you’re looking to make your own dog food (without trying to grind any bones) this is the grinder for you but I suggest for people who don’t have a dog or even if they do use this grinder to make your own meat mixtures for all kinds of things. Go to your local butcher shop as they are the absolute best ones to ask regarding what types and portions of meat you should grind together for the most delicious ground meat dish you’re making (including lamb, turkey, pork, etc. not just beef) although you can find information on the.internet also but not as much as I thought. Bottom line is between your meat being fresher, healthier, locally bought and sourced, helping to support the small local businesses in your area especially right now during this time when so many are struggling to stay in business this grinder will change your mind about what a difference this one thing can make and not only in your cooking and for an extremely reasonable price. The only other mistake we (or actually my husband made) was not investing in a new larger freezer like I wanted to BEFORE the Pandemic because now you can’t buy a freezer ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!! ☹️ It took me years but now between the meat grinder, vacuum sealer, and Joule Immersion Cooker my small freezer’s packed to the gills as I try to make and/or keep things on hand that I can share with family, friends or people who could use help with an easy pre-made homemade frozen meal that’s easy to reheat when they need it. Take care everyone and PLEASE do your best to stay safe and healthy and do whatever you can to try to help those of us who are at high risk of not just getting this horrific virus but from becoming extremely ill or worse from it!!!!!!!!!! ❤️🙏🏼
4.0 out of 5 stars Worked pretty good (update: As long as you aren't expecting a useful stuffer!)
** UPDATE 04-01-2021I finally got around to making sausage. I planned on doing basic brat and some flavored brats. I used 28mm casings. This thing would NOT push the sausage into the casings. The included stuffing attachment was too big for the casings, so I printed an adapter. That wasn't the bad part. The bad part was that the meat was ground fine, with a lot of fat, and it simply wouldn't go through the machine and the stuffing accesory. I was pushing down VERY firmly on the plunger, and managed to fill ONE casing before nearly throwing the thing across the room. The plunger was suctioned down into the machine and I kept having to turn the machine off and pull the plunger out and try again, but the same thing happened each time. It took 4 tries to get one casing filled.I *think* you might be able to fill a larger casing if you used less fat and didn't grind it too fine, but that hardly helps if you don't plan on making that kind of meat.Bottom line is that the grinder did *fine* for grinding, but I will need to purchase a REAL stuffer to make brats. This doesn't cut it.**END UPDATEI only have made ground bolonga so far, but it worked well. Easy to put together, powerful enough, and easy to clean (as easy as any meat grinder could be...)Plans are to make some more stuff with real meat and then we'll see if it's got enough guts, but I have no doubts. Great machine for home use.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product. Exceptional customer service.
This meat grinder has been working for 4 years without any problem. It has a good power. Additionally, I'd like to say that the post sales customer service is exceptional. A month ago, I lost the blade by mistake and the supplier is helping me to get the replacement part. I appreciate their help.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent customer service!
I have owned and used this for some time now. I had a part failure and decided to contact them and see. They are easy to work with and get back promptly. Even came up with a solution to my issue!!!!!!! Would recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Small powerful machine, easy to clean and get the job done
I was looking for a small compact machine and this fit the bill. It doesn’t take anymore room than my coffee machine. I went with this machine based on the positive reviews. I tried using this machine 3 times this week making burgers and lambs. I watched and read up on tips on grounding beef. Cut it into 2x2 inch cubes and put it in the freezer for 2-3 hrs. The machine grounded the beef without much effort. It was also easy to take apart and clean.
