5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Ergo keyboard. Works with Windows and Mac. A little flat and noisy

    J. · October 16, 2024

I’ve been using the Logitech Ergo K860 for years, but the print on several keys has started to wear off, so I’m in the market for a new keyboard. I use my keyboard at home with my personal Mac as well as my work Windows computer, so it’s important to me that I can switch back and forth seamlessly while maintaining the keyboard functions for each system (e.g., Windows key shortcuts and Cmd key shortcuts). I’m also very particular about key placement, such as the arrow keys, Ctrl keys, and Shift keys. I dislike when keyboards try to save space by shortening important keys, as it disrupts muscle memory and makes typing unpleasant. The first thing I noticed after unboxing the ProtoArc Ergo keyboard is how similar it is in size to the Logitech. When they call this keyboard a full-size, it truly is. It features a large wrist cushion along the entire bottom, providing excellent support. I checked all the keys and confirmed that they’re sized and shaped to my liking. I plugged in the keyboard using the included cable to charge it and connected the wireless dongle to start using it. Initially, when I connected it to my Mac, I noticed that the Cmd and Option keys were switched, likely due to using the dongle connection. However, switching to Bluetooth fixed the key arrangement. Setting up Bluetooth was super easy—just hold the Bluetooth button you want to program for 3 seconds until the light starts flashing, and it popped right up on my Mac. I clicked connect, and it was done.Next, I switched to my Windows work computer, and everything worked flawlessly with the dongle. The Windows key and all shortcuts functioned as expected. Now, I can switch back and forth between my Mac and Windows by pressing the corresponding button on the top right. You can connect two different Bluetooth devices along with the dongle, for a total of three devices at a time. The keyboard has a backlight that can be adjusted using a light button, cycling through Low, Medium, High, and Off. As I’m using the keyboard now to write this review, I can say it’s quite comfortable. The keys are a bit louder than I’m used to; the Logitech is more like a laptop keyboard, while the ProtoArc, despite being similar, is noticeably louder. Additionally, the ProtoArc is flatter, with a smaller ramp in the middle, providing less wrist angle, which makes it a bit less comfortable than the Logitech.A nice bonus is the option to choose different colors to suit your taste. Green is my favorite color, so having a keyboard in that shade makes it more exciting to look at.Overall, I’m very happy with the ProtoArc keyboard. Despite the noise level and the flatter design, it meets all my criteria for an excellent ergonomic keyboard. The keys are shaped and placed exactly where I want them, and it connected flawlessly to both my Mac and Windows computers. Switching between devices is effortless, making it a true one-keyboard solution. At the time of writing this review, the keyboard sells for $99, which is a bit cheaper than the Logitech alternative. I believe it’s worth the cost, so if you’re looking for a quality ergonomic keyboard, the ProtoArc is a great choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this Keyboard!!!!

This review is for the "ProtoArc Backlit Wireless Ergonomic Keyboard, EK01 Plus Full Size Ergo Keyboard with Wrist Rest, Split Design, Rechargeable, Bluetooth and USB, Natural Typing Compatible with Windows/Mac/Android, Green" that I ordered via the Vine program. We've been using ergonomic keyboards since they were first introduced ages ago. We're both in our 50s/60s and are on our computers for hours each day for work as well as at home. I'm convinced that the use of the ergo keyboards has kept of both from having any carpel tunnel injuries and I personally tell everyone I know about how great they are. I do however have significant arthritis in my hands and finger joints so there is that. The last type that we've been using for the last decade or so is no longer being made, so I've started a search for one that will be its replacement. We have a Logitech MK270 and my husband uses it but for me, something about it just feels, off to me. He loves it, I'm not a fan so that isn't my choice for a replacement.I've gotten a couple of clones and one was close by I had to make some adjustments with resin to feel the home keys. It wasn't quite right either. Now that I've gotten this far in the review, I'll say that I think I've found my Goldilocks keyboard, this one! First, I do love the green base and orange Bluetooth/dongle accent keys. It was packaged very nicely and has great documentation for whether using it with Windows/Mac or wirelessly with an iPad or tablet. Below is a list of pros and cons my husband contributed after using the keyboard. • Pro - Both front and rear lift legs are included • Pro - Keys have an very good feel with positive home row indicators • Pro - Faux leather wrist wrest feels premium quality • Pro - Excellent build quality and nicely weighted. Feels premium. • Pro - Supports two Bluetooth connections in addition to the dongle • Pro - No special drivers needed • Pro - Magnetic dongle storage • Con - Battery and charging status light is very dim and hard to see under standard room or office lighting. • Con - Magnetic dongle storage is a bit weak and dongle can be easily knocked loose in transport.I've been using it while working from home for the better part of a week. I love it! I agree with him on all the pros and cons and if I HAD to come up with another con, the keys can be a bit noisy but, I'm not delicate when typing either. Between having manicured nails and just being a little more heavy handed than he is, I find it a bit noisy but not so much to keep me from using it. I haven't had any issues in my fingers finding the home keys when I move them out of position or return my hands to the keyboard after writing or doing other things. With my arthritis, I'm not experiencing any significant pains associated with the keyboard with the exception of just spending nearly 9 hours a day typing nonstop.I have found my replacement keyboard and I will probably get another to have this one for home and one for work. Very highly recommended!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Short stroke, silent similar to Lenovo Laptop (expensive model)

    J.P. · October 19, 2024

Love the key action, silent, great feedback and short stroke just like a Lenovo laptop. Make sure to plug in the USB wireless because the USB power does not register as a keyboard. Kind of dumb design decision.I'm having a little trouble getting used to the key spacing for now. I'm sure within a few hours I'll be ok.I haven't found the fingerprint reader (don't think it has one) another stupid design. The dumb designs on this keyboard don't warrant a 5 star rating in my mind.Note: I also bought the Lenovo detached keyboard. It's a long stroke, clicky keyboard. There's a lot to like with its key placement and is a nice alternative if you don't mind clicking noises. Its key spacing is actually better than this one (for now).

Will take some getting used to

I love my backlit keyboards and this one has that feature which is why I ordered it. Unfortunately the letters are not illuminated just the key itself. Why I keep needing new ones is because the letters wear off and then I can't tell what they are! Unfortunately I expect the same will happen with this one, but only time will tell.It can be connected to the desktop by USB or Bluetooth. I chose bluetooth since I only have 1 USB port left and want to keep it for random usage. It paired easily and instantly on Win 10 Pro. All the function buttons work, like print screen, start menu etc. I like that I can set the backlight brightness with a button on the keyboard. There is also a button that takes you directly to the bluetooth settings screen on the desktop.I'm having a hard time typing though cuz I've never had one with this shape of keyboard so its going to take some time to get used to the layout. So far it does feel ergonomic but no way I can type without looking at the keys right now LOL. The wrist rest is excellent and built in, does not detach. That's nice as currently I have a special wrist resting pad separate from my old keyboard. It functions perfectly and does not feel cheaply made at all. Keys are quiet compared to most other keyboards too. The only thing I don't like is the green background, but that is cosmetic and does not affect function.

Sleek and stylish ProtoArc keyboard that easily beats Logitech on performance and price

    B. · October 2, 2024

I love this backlit ProtoArc keyboard!Micro-switches are overrated. They are! The entire PCMR has been led to believe that the only keyboard worth a darn is one that has micro-switches and I'm here to tell you that's simply not true. Yes, high performance keyboards for gaming and specialty use see a huge benefit from this technology. But can you get excellent keyboards without? You bet you can - and you've found one right here.Everything about this keyboard screams premium. Plastics are all great quality and beautifully uniform in texture and colour. The keyboard offers angle/tilt adjustments forward and back. I found the integrated wrist rest to be one of the most comfortable I've ever used going back 40+ years (man, I wish the Commodore 64 and VIC 20 had keyboards like this back in the day!) The wrist rest is made with a textured PVC with just the right amount of padding to keep you comfortable but still provide a sturdy base so you can type like a speed demon when you want to. All the keys have a relatively short throw which makes speedy typing a breeze and the force required to actuate every key is a balance made in heaven. The ergonomic layout (combined with a standard layout for the editing and number pad keys) is just plain comfortable. The media control keys placed right between the left/right separated keyboard is a genius design move as it is effortlessly accessible with either hand and the separation of these additional buttons allows control without even having to look down. Seriously, it is a joy to type on this keyboard.Pairing with 2 additional Bluetooth hosts is effortless and this, along with the included dongle allows you to quickly (and I mean QUICKLY) switch between and control 3 different PCs. There are dedicated buttons on the keyboard for each mode. These mode buttons even have white status LEDs to tell you which button you pushed and if you are paired in the case of the Bluetooth modes.Battery life is epic. It's the kind of thing you do every few weeks or even months, even with heavy usage. Both the mouse and keyboard have wide-cable accessible USB C charging ports so you can use your fancy charging cables or even attach magnetic charging dongles if you prefer to go that route. Charging is indicated by a pale red LED on the keyboard located between the F keys. I measured charging power draw at about 1 watt, which is absolutely tiny by any standard. One nitpick I have about this keyboard is the charging LED. It's very dim and kinda hard to see. Given how infrequently charging happens this is obviously a minor nitpick. After testing this keyboard for a few weeks I decided to replace my Logitech MX Mechanical keyboard with this EK01/Plus model and MX Master mouse with a ProtoArc EM01NL. I find it much for comfortable and ergonomic for daily driving than my grossly-overpriced and online-only software-bloated Logitech gear. And the ProtoArc dongles and Bluetooth options just work - every time and all the time.Highly recommended - this is easily my favourite keyboard of all time!

Really nice, comfy and stylish ergonomic keyboard. Love the feel and backlights.

I ordered this ergonomic keyboard off of the Bolo Vine program to test out with work. I wanted to try one for awhile now to see if it was easier on my wrists. It takes awhile to get the hang of the layout but I really like it for long periods of use.The keyboard comes packaged very nicely . With a charging usb-c cable . You can hook it up to your PC or Mac or android device on multiple ways . With the cord. With the included 2.4 gh usb dongle or via Bluetooth. I use the dongle for my PC.It has tons of media buttons. All the standard buttons of a regular sized keyboard and even some more to customize. It has a very nice backlight . You can choose low, medium or high brightness . It's a cool white light that illuminates around the keys. The keys are a softer membrane feel. It is pretty quiet to type on. You don't have to push down hard on the keys . Which is nice . It delivers a fluid typing experience . The wrist rest is pretty soft but built into the keyboard. So sadly once it gets trashed your kinda in a pickle. I do wish it was removable. The bottom has 4 adjustable feet so you can really fine tune it to your liking and comfort.I really like the blue color as well. It is my favorite color and one reason I ordered it. All in all I think it is pretty great. Not perfect but very close . I can recommend it . Thanks.

    Rechargeable & ergonomic keyboard!

    P.C.R. · October 7, 2024

The split design with the wrist rest is fantastic for improving typing posture and reducing strain on my hands and wrists during long typing sessions. The natural, ergonomic layout does take a bit of getting used to, especially if you're coming from a standard keyboard, but once you adjust, it's much more comfortable. I appreciate that the keyboard is rechargeable. Additionally, the backlit feature is a nice touch, especially when working in low light. The illumination is subtle, not too bright, which makes it easier on the eyes. One of the standout features is the dual connection options — Bluetooth and USB are exactly what I need! I give this rotoArc Backlit Wireless Ergonomic Keyboard, EK01 Plus Full Size Ergo Keyboard with Wrist a 5-star rating review.

Nice keyboard but a bit bulky for me

    D.D. · October 19, 2024

This is a nice natural feeling keyboard. The ergonomic design makes it comfortable to use while keeping your hands in a more natural position in comparison to standard keyboards. The battery life is good and connection via Bluetooth works well. It is backlit which is helpful and can be turned off or set to 3 levels of brightness depending on our preference. The wrist rest is comfortable and cushions your hands nicely if you enjoy that feature. My only real complaint is it feels a bit bulky and takes up a fair bit of desk space. I would have liked to see the wrist rest be removable to cut down on the space needed but unfortunately it's built in and cannot be removed. Other than that I like it and it works well.
