5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable helmet

    I. · November 1, 2024

My head measures at 24", and the maximum setting is a good snug fit. Without the liner I'd need to tighten it down a bit.The liner is comfortable, and at first a bit warm, but once I got going, it was about like having a beanie under my helmet. I never felt overly warm, only cozy. The earflaps effectively kept my ears warm as well, though they didn't block wind noise as much as I wanted. Still, I pulled them aside a few times and can confirm they were attenuating the wind noise. I had a headwind and they reduced the noise to about what I would have heard at that speed on windless day. Mostly took the bass out it, so it was like being inside with high winds racing past the windows. The chin strap gave me a little trouble at the start. After adjusting to the right length it felt like it was on the edge of choking me, but after taking the helmet off and putting it back on a few times that went away as things settled in place--and likely I also got better at positioning the helmet. It's heavier and a bit bulkier than a bike helmet, but it's not burdensome. It goes lower on the back of the head than bike helmet, and is a closer fit at the base than a motorcycle helmet. I had to smooth the area where it contacted the nape of my neck by running a finger between it and my neck and nudging it a bit for comfort, but once I got it riding in a good place I forgot all about it. If I let it, the helmet could fade into the background of my experience. There, but not intrusive, as a good helmet should be.

5.0 out of 5 stars My new favorite Ski Helmet, loved it so much, we bought a second one! Extraordinary feature...

    M. · October 31, 2024

An extraordinary helmet, in design, quality and comfort....we ordered a second one!We are avid skiers and have skied my whole life. I have never heard of OutdoorMaster before, but did some research, and discovered they are now becoming the leaders in helmets. We have been currently using POC and GIRO, at crazy price points. Crazy, like $200-$300 crazy. The first thing that I noticed was the aesthetics. This helmet looks amazing. The quality through the helmet, both inside and out is over the top. Very good looking and extremely well insulated, padded, MIPS Certified, and more importantly, it's super comfortable. The second feature we noticed, which is no doubt the standout of all competing helmets, what I believe is the "patented fastener strap clip" that secures your goggles. Gone are the days of an irritating snap button. This new design to hold your goggles is sensational. Truly an amazing design that literally leaves the competition in the dust.Extraordinary in all ways...this is the helmet to have and the helmet in my opinion, from a skier who loves to ski and is passionate for Colorado, Utah and Canada....this blows away the competition on both design, features, comfort, quality and price. Simply amazing!

4.0 out of 5 stars ASTM MIPS Ski Helmet but no certification labels

    A. · November 6, 2024

OutdoorMaster MIPS ski helmetI measured 23" and ordered an "L."Like:*Fits perfectly*MIPS plastic layer for twisting impacts*Fleece lined - very soft*Thick chin strap (resists twisting)*Open ear flaps (room for earbuds)*Ski googles fit under front without helmet pushing them down*Elastic strap on back of helmet holds ski goggle strap securely. Not so much:*No certification testing labels*Vents don't close (always open)This is my first MIPS helmet so I'm not sure how it's supposed to be manufactured, but there is a yellow plastic slip layer between the foam and fleece liner. The outside plastic is very stiff making the helmet a bit heavier than some, but while skiing, I never notice the weight and I have a couple of helmets that are heavier (my dual density foam multiple impact helmet is heavier). It also comes with a carry bag that I'll probably lose someday in the back of the car, but it can keep the helmet clean during storage. The QR code "For more information" just takes you to an informational site about MIPS, and not about this helmet in particular. I went there because the paper that's included with the helmet is for every helmet made by this manufacturer with nothing about just this helmet. There are also 4 extra Velcro-type stick downs included in case the lining gets loose. It says it's an "American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM)" helmet on the info paper, but that's it. There's no "BS EN 1077:2007 Class B" (approved for snowboarding and skiing) anywhere, so I only have my judgement as to its quality. That said, it seems better than some other helmets I have used (and still have). The ABS single-impact foam is thicker on the front and sides than the others, and this also has the sliding MIPS layer. The earflaps pull out which I don't care about, and the chin strap has a nice piece of fleece to be soft on your neck. This will be my new go-to helmet to use for a while as it's snug and comfortable and any helmet is needed on the machine-made loose granular hardpack that I'm usually on. The vents are always open but they're not too large. I can wear a poly skull cap liner if it gets cold, but I don't see that happening as there are only half-front vents, the vents being mainly open to the top and back.4 stars - Nice helmet for 1/4 the price of a name brand MIPS helmet (but those are tested)

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice, adjustable, ski helmet with removable ear covers & headliner, with pockets for ear speakers.

I’m a 5’6” (168cm) man with a 23” (58.4 cm) head circumference. The “large” size (22.84”-24.41”) fits me perfectly. This helmet is MIPS rated which is the critical safety rating. The helmet has a removable headliner, which is nice because you can wash it. (My old helmet didn’t have a removable headliner.)The helmet also has removable ear-covers, but you have to pull on them pretty hard to remove them. Those ear covers have pockets so that you can insert Bluetooth speakers into them. The helmet has nice size-adjustment knob on the back so that you can get it to fit snugly, yet comfortably. The chinstrap is easy to connect/disconnect and adjust. The helmet has a rear-strap to hold a ski-goggle strap. My ski goggle fit snugly over the helmet, leaving no gap between my helmet and forehead. This good-looking helmet seems very well made and I feel safer. No complaints. I don't know what more I could ask for, so I’m giving it 5-stars.

    Good protection

If you’re looking for a versatile, high-quality helmet that can handle multiple outdoor activities, the Kelvin II Ski Helmet is a fantastic choice. While it’s marketed as a ski helmet, its adjustable fit and sturdy construction make it just as suitable for skateboarding, bicycling, or any other action sport.Comfort & Fit: One of the standout features of this helmet is its adjustability. The dial-fit system allows for a customizable fit, so you can easily adjust the helmet to your head size for a secure and comfortable fit. It’s soft and padded on the inside, providing plenty of cushioning without being bulky. I’ve worn it during both skiing and skateboarding, and it stays snug without feeling too tight or uncomfortable. It’s breathable as well, so I haven’t had any issues with overheating, even during longer sessions.Design & Durability: The Kelvin II has a sleek, modern design that’s both functional and stylish. It’s lightweight, yet durable, providing solid protection without weighing you down. The outer shell is tough enough to absorb impacts, while the inner foam does a great job of cushioning your head from shock. Whether you’re taking a fall on the slopes or wiping out on your skateboard, this helmet provides peace of mind that you’re protected.Versatility: Though it’s technically designed for skiing, I love how adaptable the Kelvin II is. I’ve used it for skateboarding and bicycling as well, and it performs just as well as helmets specifically designed for those sports. The fit is stable enough for the fast turns and quick movements of skateboarding and cycling, while still providing the protection needed for more extreme sports like skiing. It’s also equipped with enough ventilation to keep you cool during warmer weather or more intense activity.Safety Features: The helmet is designed to meet the safety standards for skiing, which means it provides the necessary protection for high-speed sports. The adjustable straps and snug fit ensure that the helmet won’t shift during use, and I feel confident in the protection it offers, no matter what sport I’m doing.Overall Thoughts: The Kelvin II Ski Helmet is an excellent, all-around helmet for anyone who participates in winter sports or other action sports like skateboarding or biking. Its adjustable design, lightweight comfort, and durable build make it a standout in its category, and it’s a great option for those who want a helmet that can be used year-round.

    Overall a solid MIPS helmet

    S. · November 8, 2024

If anyone at the beginning to intermediate skiing/snowboarding level is on the hunt for a helmet that combines style, safety, and warmth, this MIPS-equipped snowboarding helmet has these points covered. The build quality is rock-solid. I can tell this helmet is going to stand up to quite a few seasons, and the MIPS (Multi-direction Impact Protection System) gives me that extra level of confidence out on the slopes. Knowing there’s technology designed to reduce rotational forces in a fall? That’s a big consideration point for peace of mind when I am carving down the mountain. Not only is it safe, but this helmet has some serious style points too. It’s got that sleek, modern look, so you’ll feel just as cool as you look (or at least I do!). But looks aren’t everything, it’s the warmth factor that really sets this helmet apart. With cozy earmuffs and a soft fleece liner, it will provide an warm assurance in the cold winter. The ventilation is also decent, thanks to top vents that keep things breathable, though one drawback is that they can’t be adjusted. So, on extreme cold days, you don’t have the option to control/close the airflow, which could have been a nice touch. The helmet also shines in terms of fit. It’s fully adjustable on the inside, which lets me get that snug, comfortable feel. Just a heads up on sizing: I have an average medium-sized head, and the large size fit just right, so if you’re on the edge, you might want to size up. Definitely measure your noggin before ordering! What’s great is that this helmet isn’t just for winter. It’s got removable ear pads and liner, so come summer, you can take it down and use it as a biking helmet. It’s like two helmets in one! The storage bag coming with the helmet is also a thoughtful addition. If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would be in the strap and clip. They’re solid, but they could be a little more adjustable and a tad more padded.

    So far, so good

I have yet to hit the hills with this helmet and it's still too warm out to get a good feel for it, however, from what I can tell, this helmet is quite good. the interior is soft and warm. The exterior is hard, but not heavy so wont get uncomfortable over time..I like that it has removable ear pads that i can also use for my helmet speakers if I choose to.As for the size, I would say that its pretty accurate and i was able to adjust where i needed when i needed for me or my son, who has a larger that average skull for his age.Overall, good price, good helmut and worth the investment.

Fits good and snug, yet there's enough squish to the ear flaps to allow glasses arms in easily. The inside is so soft and warm, it does a good job letting air through to keep you from sweating though. I like the cover it came with to protect it while in storage over the summer, its a nice addition. I really like the Harbor Blue colour, it is just the perfect shade. The whole product seems very thoughtfully designed, I couldn't find any shortcomings. I find the product entirely lives up to the expectations laid out in the listing.
