5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for parties or a bedroom
This is a mini-projector home use. The projector stands approximately 6” tall. It consists of a roundish half globe suspended on a metal frame. It is powered by a power cable that plugs into a standard North American 2-prong plug. To use it, you slide in one of the disks, then turn on the power and focus the image on your ceiling and walls. With the buttons on top of the projector, you can control the orientation of the image and its brightness as well as how long the image stays up, 1-4 hours. Included with the projector are 13 image disks, including the moons and stars, a planet with rings, the Earth and stars, several colored nebula variations, a heart with stars, Santa Claus, sea creatures, and a dinosaur scene. The projector was made in China. My daughter really enjoys using this projector. She likes to sleep with a light on at night, so this projector gives her a new option for feeling safe while she sleeps. She can literally lie in bed and count stars. Yet, the light turns off automatically in a few hours after she has fallen to sleep, which helps her get used to sleeping in the dark. She plan to use the heart image disk for an upcoming slumber party. Overall, this projector is a lot of fun, especially for young kids and teenagers seeking alternative ways to light their rooms.
4.0 out of 5 stars It’s not bad for what it is
So I will start by letting you all know that until this newer projector-type galaxy version, I have purchased 3 or 4 of the star light laser ones (most with different color nebulas). I will say that the laser ones are brighter and will show up better in a dim lit room versus a pitch black room, but the laser ones don’t show the detail that this does, nor are they anywhere near a planetarium. I wanted this new planetarium style for a long while, but they were at least $200 for the cheaper (not toy-type) models, and the reviews on them were shaky at best.On to this much more affordable basic semi-toy-like one. For what it is (a very low lumen projector with consumable, exchangeable slides), it does just fine in our bedroom, but it needs to be pitch dark/no lights on to see this at its best. I found that the black/white moon slide that comes already installed in it is the best slide and the easiest to get focused. The color slides that are with it just aren’t bright enough (back to the low lumen projector problem previously stated) to get proper detail or focusing out of it. In pitch dark they look cool and some have nice colors to them, but they need more light behind them to get any detail and/or clarity. You can focus until your heart is content, but you still will want more out of the image. That’s just my opinion of course though. My biggest issue with this is the focusing, but I’m not sure there is a way around it. Like one of the other reviewers mentioned, these are hard to focus due to the fact that most people put these on an end table closer to the perimeter and/or corner of the room, and not directly below the center of the ceiling, which would make for ideal viewing. This would most likely be an issue for any projector like this, the way light refracts through this at an angle will make all round objects (planets/moons) look oblong in certain spots along your ceiling as the image moves; I don’t think there is a way around this. Don’t expect much with the shooting star feature, but it’s pretty cool I guess. Just nitpicking here, but the tiny round silicone ball that is used to grab the slides out should be changed to a loop or something because it is hard to grab and a little slippery. I added some pics so you can see that it looks pretty good. You can also see where the object goes oblong (look at the pic with the ceiling fan shadow) as previously mentioned.Overall, for the. $50 range, it is not bad and I would get another. For an adult, this is cool if you’re a space/sci-fi nut like me, or you want to add some cool ambience to your bedroom, theater room, etc. I also believe this is a step up from the laser ones, or even could be used in conjunction.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love this one
I have a few other similar projectors, but this one is my favorite. It comes with 13 different slides, some for holidays, etc. Super cute. I like that it has a timer. Perfect for kids or big kids like me!
5.0 out of 5 stars Out of this world fun!
This Galaxy Projector is out of this world! I thought it would be cool, but wow! This projector has 13 different film discs you can swap out (12 in cases and one in the projector, when you get it). You can do everything from the Milky Way to black holes. There are also non-space themes such as Christmas, Valentines, dinosaurs and marine organisms. You can have it remain still or set it to move at a steady—but slow—pace, giving it an even more realistic feel. You can even turn on shooting stars. It has a timer as well, which is perfect if you are using it in a bedroom as a nightlight while the kids are falling asleep. This projector is fun and enjoyable for all ages. I definitely recommend it!
5.0 out of 5 stars So awesome!
I was blown away at the quality and how clear the images were.I had the moon, stars, and meteors moving on my ceiling and was better than I had expected.I love that it comes with different scenes and so many options. You can focus it, tilt, and adjust a lot of things.Just wish there was at least one scene/disc with just stars and nothing else though.Very cool!
4.0 out of 5 stars Great for a sleep over
For such a little thing, it packs a punch. Feels durable, the stand is metal and doesn't rock.I waited until my nieces sleepover to unpack this. The girls are about 7/8, and I didn't have to show them how to run this, so it's pretty self explanatory.I liked how you can focus it. The one we had before, you had to add and subtract the number of books we put it on to get it into some sort of focus.I also like how many different hubble pictures they added into it. We were all excited to see space in our living room, and because everyone had their favorites that we had to look up, it turned into an impromptu astronomy/planetarium activity, and they fell asleep with it on. Luckily the timer turned it off.
5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful light affects
There are so many different scenes you can choose from for different looks. These project on the wall just beautifully. I had no problem with mine at all. I would definitely recommend them to other families and I would like to get some others in different themes also.
