5.0 out of 5 stars WOW...I am ashamed because apparently, I have done this wrong all my life
I have mostly hard floors in my house, but I have many rugs and the staircase is also carpeted for safety. Because of these various surfaces and in light of the fact that I have 2 teenagers as well as a cat and dog, I own upright, robot, and canister vacuums as well as traditional and silicone brooms. I also own air purifiers and DESPITE ALL OF THIS EFFORT (yes, I use all of these things!) LOOK AT THE PICTURE OF THE HAIR I GOT OFF OF MY STEPS! I literally broom swept, vacuumed, then silicone broomed them YESTERDAY. I was able to rake all of the stairs in 4 minutes or so.This is definitely not like a silicone broom: please do not scrape this across anything other than carpet. It is a metal rake, textured with the intent of lifting hair, fur, and debris out of carpet (only!). The instructions state this clearly and provides a list of suitable uses.I recommend using short, firm strokes when raking the carpet, or at least, that's what worked for me. I am thinking this rake will stand up to long-term use: the handle is made of metal and didn't show any tendency toward bending, and the rake end looks to be high quality. It's also nice that it's nearly 5 feet long, so I was able to stand upright while using it (I am 5'9, so I have come across this issue with some brooms and such). My stairs carpet is medium pile, so I tried it out on one of those thinner, washable rugs that everyone has now. It was a bit more "slippery" when raking because the surface is smoother, but I had similar results and ended up with a small log of hair that should have come up with the vacuuming I did yesterday :)Wonderful product, amazing price, incredible build quality...strongly recommend for anyone with ANY carpet in their home!Oh, and a bonus storage hook is included, which was great 👍
5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a Carpet Rake That Works on Dog Hair
I've tried several brushes that claim to remove dog hair from rugs, carpets, couches, and car interiors, but they always seem to fall short. Most of them are silicone brushes that are supposed to grab the hair, but they can be frustrating because they don’t pick up half the hair. However, when I tried this 12” Wide Large Metal Carpet Rake, I was amazed (and a little embarrassed) by how much dog hair it pulled up—even from freshly vacuumed carpets! The rake has a copper head with rounded teeth designed to catch hair. It does take a little effort on low pile—short, quick strokes a few times—but it works far better than any silicone brush I’ve used.Once the rake catches the hair, all it takes is a quick forward brush to remove it from the teeth, and then you can vacuum up the pile. Just be careful not to use it on hardwood floors or any surfaces that could get scratched. Even with all the pulling and pushing, the 54" stainless steel never feels like it's going to bend. A nice bonus is a stainless steel hook to hang it from.In summary, it works much better than other brushes, but takes a little effort and back work on low pile carpets and rugs.
4.0 out of 5 stars Really works!
This rake really does work. It is a bit more effort than using a vacuum, but it gets up way more dog hair. The length can kind of be adjusted by leaving off one of the pieces of the handle. The 54" handle is sturdy and easy to assemble. The 12" rake helps cover a larger area at one time.I found using this in small areas at a time after I vacuum, it is the easiest on the back; It does still take a bit of "elbow grease", but it does work!
5.0 out of 5 stars Whoa this is good
Awhile ago I got a carpet brush that is silicone and it is great for the dog hair sitting on the top of a rug but this is an amazing comb that actually draws out the hair and fur and dirt! I have five dogs with varying levels of crazy fur coming off of them so I feel like I’m in a constant battle with the fur. We have mostly tile floors but use area rugs to break up space and keep our feet of cold tile. The area rugs are almost harder to keep clean but this rake is amazing and just a few minutes pulled out the hair and dirt. Then just run a vacuum after the rake and it’s back to perfect. This is my new favorite cleaning tool!
5.0 out of 5 stars Works Really Well
Cat hair and dog hair brushed up like a dream. It raked the hair off the carpets, the floor, and the cat trees. This is a great product that definitely helped us de-fluff and de-fur the house. The long and short handles allowed us to get under beds and along the walls and around furniture. I recommend this product for those with pets or partners that shed and their vacuums shouldn't and can't handle it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy pole and rakes carpet well
The 12"in rake head makes raking up my HUGE Great Pyrenees' long white hair off my carpet much easier than with my vacuum alone. It's got two copper colored strips with tiny tines (or teeth) that loosen and rake it up nicely where my vacuum has a hard time, because the hairs are long. The pole is heavy duty stainless steel, and has adjustable lengths, and a comfortable firm grip handle. This comes with a very nice stainless steel stick-on wall hook for hanging the rake. Good quality product and good value for families with shedding pets.
