5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy for the money.
Right now this car is $119.99 with a $30 off coupon. You are paying $90 plus tax for this car as of today. DEERC has been around for a while and is a good name brand. They do rebadge cars from other manufacturers sometimes and I am not sure if this is a rebadge or a made in house car. That said this car IS fully hobby grade, unless you consider Philips screw instead of hex screw toy graded and a lot of people do. The other design change I would make is using oil shocks. You need to remove a screw locking the cap in place to get the caps off, but I stuck a tissue in one of them and it was bone dry so these are friction shocks (I did not see a seal in the cap). They perform very well for friction shocks, but you will eventually want to upgrade them to oil shocks for best performance. Now for the good. This car has all replaceable parts so run it hard and don't worry about bricking your RC car due to a broken part. It has a metal drive line, axles and gears. All of the important parts for a powerful brushless motor system. I wonder if the spur gear is plastic (need to pull it apart to find out) because it is pretty quite and very smooth compared to my cars with metal spur and pinon gears. The box implies the spur is metal though. The car is fast, steers really well and is very controlled. I am very impressed. It is built well, especially in this price range. I ran it hard on 2S and it held up really well (ran into some concrete curbs with no breakage). There is NO documentation on running 3s batteries so do it at your own risk, but I was going to run a 3S pack on it and it ran great and was very fast, but I went too far away, lost control and slammed into a concrete curb (I do that a lot in testing cars for durability). It did break a plastic C hub,, BUT I would not blame that on the car. If you run any RC car into concrete at high speeds you are most likely going to break something. Don't hold that against the car. That said the 30A ESC seems to support 3S batteries making this thing insanely fast and fun. It has a combo ESC receiver so if you replace 1 you need a combo product or separate receiver and ESC for the upgrade. All that said, this one surprised me. It is fast, smooth, fun and very well built and you won't do better than this for $90. It is totally worth the asking price and a great first RC car for the budget minded and it is probably safe to run 3S. This is a win-win car for price and performance.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fast and fun on a budget!
This is my second (what I would consider) entry level hobby grade RC truck. I have a 1/18th truck as well. The rest are toy grade, so this review is from a casual person who likes RC'sThis truck comes with 2 7.4v 1500mah batteries which are pretty strong in this machine. It's a true 4 wheel drive, it also is a true 1/14 scale in my opinion as it's over 12 inches long. It feels very durable and more metal components such as the drive shaft and axles to the wheels, my cheaper trucks have plastic. It's fast, and I mean fast compared to my others, but it does turn a little wide.Again, it's very fast compared to anything else I have, which I'm sure there are much faster hobby cars but this is a very affordable truck. I wouldn't recommend this for a small child, it's way too rowdy, but if you're looking for a "next step up from toy RC's" and don't want to spend a fortune, I would totally recommend this truck.
4.0 out of 5 stars Ok cool little truggy
Truggy is definitely like one step up from beginner level.Pros:-Tires are nice and soft and a bit of a square edge if you would allowing for more traction on the ground-all metal drive train including axles-comes with body clip savers already installed-two good size batteries-nice controller finger fits good (I have big hands)-deans plug connectors/firm Velcro battery strap-front bumper lights-brushless motor is zippy-wheelie bar ( you actually need it at times)-1/14 scale (little bigger than 16 not much)Cons:-shocks are only spring/friction no oil so the suck bad, upgraded instantly but needs spacers for the back to fit right. Way better.-turning radius not the best could be better maybe because of the square edge tires will have to swap to see if it gets better.-brushless motor it small it’s like if it’s form a 1/16 car and they slappped it in this 1/14 scale, could have a little more power but still rips around and you get that brushless zip when you punch it. Also can manipulate car with throttle when jumping in the air for smooth landings.-be sure to tighten all screws before use I have some wiggle off during the first two runs, found them and added lock tight good now.-suspension travel could be a little longer it’s not extremely tight where it’s not doing anything it still have some travel but would be nice to get a little more.Over all happy with it for $80 some instant upgrades and you’ll be even happier
3.0 out of 5 stars Motor Died After Approximately 5 Minutes On Grass
I really wanted to like this car. The car overall seemed to be pretty decent for the price. The overall construction looked pretty good and well thought out. My son was so excited to get to drive his first real RC car (not the low powered toys for young kids). On a driveway surface he was able to do wheelies. He put it on the lawn and drove it around a little bit but within about 5 minutes, smoke was coming out of the motor. It seems that pushing through the grass (which was mowed just days earlier and not overly long) had possibly caused it to strain too much and burned out the motor. Even after cooling down for a day or two, the motor refused to turn again. When throttle was applied, the motor would just start smoking again.I'm going to replace the burned-out motor with a another one, but with a 2800KV 2845 one in hopes that a little extra torque may solve the issue (and possibly a bit higher quality motor). The car comes with 2 1500mAh batteries that have Dean T connectors, a charger, a few extra parts and tools, and remote control.
