5.0 out of 5 stars The Words of a Happy Nine-Year Old
My nine year old daughter saved her allowance to purchase these markers. After placing the order, she began counting down the days until they would arrive. They arrived two days later, which was expected, and she was the happiest girl when she made it home from school and there was her package! She said that they are the best markers that she has ever had, and would rate them a 5,000 if she could. She said that unlike other markers, they don't mix. They're doing good about keeping up with her creative mind because we have run out of paper! If you want to keep your kiddo's ideas flowing onto paper, I recommend purchasing these markers.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great Value set
First picture is all markers in numerical order so you can see the color choices from each shade. Some pens cap color does not accurately reflect the color of the ink (second pic), so swatching will be handy if you're picky about a color. The colors bleed. I used Canson Mixed Media notebook and pic three shows the reverse of my swatching page. It did not bleed onto the page below, however. I think there are shades which blend well together and many colors that can be used for flesh tones, as long as you aren't going for realism. See last pic to see how markers respond to fountain pen on top of already colored areas, as well as addition of markers to already drawn areas in ink. There was no running or smudging of the ink (pen used for this is shown, and was an Bolo purchase). The tray at the bottom can be used alone on a desk, to hold markers, but I really like the zippered carrying case with a handle. A plus for traveling or taking to classes. For the price, it's a steal especially for kids, but also a great starter set for alcohol markers and how they respond and mix. One star taken because of bleeding and pen cap colors, but a great quality for the price.
5.0 out of 5 stars This is a fun value set for casual coloring if you don’t mind the bleed.
These are my first alcohol markers, so my review will be limited to newbie status, especially as I’m using them for coloring books.First, they don’t come with instructions, so I’m not sure how the refilling is supposed to happen? But if anything, they seem overfilled on arrival. They bleed a lot, both coming from the marker, and, of course, through to the other side. You’ll definitely want a layer between your paper and any paper you want to use under it, probably thin cardstock.I like that I can add saturation with multiple layers. And I like that they dry fast and I don’t end up with multi-colored hands. The dual tip is useful, but honestly the big tip is just unwieldy for me unless it’s a big color block, and the fine tip isn’t so much fine, as just… smaller than normal markers, I guess? I worked on a mystery mosaic with it, and with the bleed made precisely doing a single square fairly impossible. They come with a blending brush, but they don’t really blend in a way I’m expecting. I guess I could be using this wrong, but the blending is closer to just fading the colors vs. a true blend like you’d get with a water marker (and maybe higher end alcohol markers?).I too have the 120 set, and the same colors listed as another reviewer with this set, so I think you’d have to order a larger set to get more colors. The color spread seems mostly balanced. I wish there were fewer grays, though I can see how a large range of grays might be useful in different applications than mine.4.5 stars rounded up because I’m really enjoying them as my first experience with alcohol markers.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great set! Love the container
I'm really enjoying this set of markers! Lately, I had been using acrylic markers when coloring, and these are very different, but not in a bad way.One way is that you can blend the colors of these markers together, which doesn't work as well with the acrylic markers I've used. The set comes with a colorless blender marker which is cool to use even on unmixed coloring. You will sometimes get a surprising change to the color, so be sure to test it on another piece of paper before coloring with it.Another way they are different is that alcohol markers will bleed through your paper, so you will need a buffer sheet or two if you are coloring in a book. I honestly think the other side of the paper looks cooler than the side with the lines, but that's just me.There is a nice variety of colors. As with all art products, be sure to test the color on another piece of paper because the cap color isn't always accurate. These markers work right away, so no shaking or pressing to get the liquid to flow. The markers come in a nice storage bag in two plastic wrapped chunks. Each chunk has a stand at the bottom which holds the markers in place. The zipper bag is easy to open and close and it has a handy handle on the top.The markers don't come in number order, and the numbers aren't consecutive, so I'm not sure exactly what they are supposed to indicate. I had to spend some time ordering my markers by number, but I'm very happy with how they look now.
5.0 out of 5 stars CREATSPARK Alcohol Markers
This is my first set of alcohol markers, but I've known about them for a while. I've always wanted to use the Copic markers at Michaels, but I'm unwilling to pay $10 for a single marker. So, as far as I know these work just as well as the super expensive ones!! I do like the way they color much better than your standard issue Crayola markers. I was coloring a rose and the green I chose for the leaves looked so natural. I them used a darker green to add some shade to the leaves, and the colors blended very well.I have a slight red green color deficiency, so I'm thankful the color names are printed on the caps. Some purples look blue, so having a name helps prevent me from coloring a purple Smurf. It says they are refillable, but I'm not sure how to do that. Hopefully I won't need to for a while since the markers are fairly large.I'd say the price is pretty good, especially when compared to some other alcohol markers.
