5.0 out of 5 stars Super powerful when used properly
If you want a magnet to really shine, you have to feed it iron. The side of a tin building, or other material that does not have much mass will not work out well. But slap this baby on a heavy iron plate, or I-beam and now you’re talking. A smooth, debris free surface is also important.I used a file and smoothed out a section of the red iron I-beam in my basement. Next, I used a heavy nylon ratchet strap and suspended 250 pounds from the magnet without so much as a budge. I didn’t go heavier simply because I didn’t want to keep moving the weights. This magnet is a beast, which led to my only issue. I couldn’t get the magnet back off the beam! I had to use a block of wood and a hammer, pounding on it until I was finally able to work the magnet to the edge, where I managed to break it free. So, best case scenario; yep, it’s very strong! Worst case scenario; you go ‘fishing’ with it and lock onto something that you can’t retrieve, or break free from. Now you buy a new magnet.
3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty strong magnet, but FAR from 700lbs strong
I stuck it to the side of our pole barn. It really didn't take that much force to pull it off. It seems pretty weak for its claims. I wouldn't trust it to lift or hold a heavy item. It has a good size to it though. Just disappointed in its strength, or lack thereof.
4.0 out of 5 stars Solid little magnet.
I have no idea what creative lab comes up with "700 lbs pulling" for these.Probably related to the guys that rate 5hp electric motors that draw 1100 watts. But they're all listed with wildly inflated claims like that, so I cant' really fault them.I figure this *might* lift 150 lbs. I wouldn't stand under it.I'm okay with that.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Powerful Magnet
This very powerful magnet can be useful in so many ways. “Oh, amazing magnet, how may I use thee? Let me count the ways!” No Shakespeare, I know, but still… This is the most powerful magnet I’ve ever had to use for collecting, retrieving and even securing (on a temporary basis) things that a magnet is attracted by a magnet. I won’t likely use it in a lake or pond where it would inevitably get caught on “underwater traps”. But, for times and places where such traps are unlikely and the retrievable item is attract- able by a strong magnet… well, this one is the one to use, for sure. With the eyebolt securely lock threaded in place, a strong rope or cable attached, I think you could get back what otherwise might be lost… underwater, inaccessibly tight situation of etc. … this well made magnet is your choice. Wow! Is it strong! VeryGood.
5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful magnet with many uses
We're using this in our new barn to pick up scattered nails and screws, and will later use it in a burn pile to pick up any hidden nails that were left in scrap wood. These magnets are also tons of fun along stream beds and under bridges. You will often find surprising things if you like treasure hunting! I used a thick piece of rope that has a couple of knots in it for grip -- this makes the magnet into a multi-purpose tool that will come in handy in sometimes unexpected ways.
5.0 out of 5 stars Just add rope (nylon)

Don't worry the DTLHCNCT 700 lbs kit comes with thread locker to help guarantee your eyebolt won't be coming off along the way. There are online resources that review what types of ropes are recommended for magnet fishing, along with carabiners for the advantage of swivel, and even which knots to use to reduce chances of losing any of your gear.
4.0 out of 5 stars A Magnet for Mediocrity
This magnet sure knows how to stick around—just not to expectations. It's like the strong silent type of magnets, quietly doing its job while leaving you thinking, "Is that all there is?" It’s delightfully adequate at holding up my household notes, which is fabulous if you're expecting the lifting strength of a mild breeze. Yet, beneath its outward modesty lies a dependable performer, suitable for everything except your wildest magnetic dreams. So yes, it's a magnetic masterpiece, in a subtle way.
