5.0 out of 5 stars It works pretty well.
So far, I’ve only used this monitor in my studio for shooting product photography. I wasn’t sure what to expect because I’ve never used a monitor like this before. Once I hooked it up to my camera, I found that it works pretty well. It only shows the capture of the picture for a few seconds. If I want to look at the picture a little bit longer, I need to hold the play button down on my camera so I can see what I shot. The nice thing is the monitor is much larger than my LCD on the back of my camera. Plus, I can put the monitor up where I can see it better so I don’t have to bend down to see the monitor on my camera. It hooks up pretty easily and runs pretty well. I’m still learning about adjustments and things like that but for a first time monitor for me, I think this works really well. I had to purchase an AC adapter, and luckily I own the right size battery so I can go portable with this too. I think it will come in handy for a lot of different situations and I am looking forward to using it in other ways.
4.0 out of 5 stars Stiff battery compartment
I'm intrigued by everything this camera has to offer, there's plenty of features, some of which I won't even use on the regular. However, I'm sorely disappointed with the stiffness of the battery compartment. It's quite hard to insert/detach NP-F batteries. With that said, I think the overall monitor is as lightweight as possible, and this makes it easy to take it for an outdoor filming session, or anywhere really.I think the most obvious reason for getting an external monitor is to see the entire frame in greater detail. I think this monitor does a great job at doing so, and the colors seem to be accurately represented.I recommend this monitor.
5.0 out of 5 stars camera monitor
Easy to assemble and connect to your camera. it worked on a couple of my Sony cameras without issues. So far it seems to work pretty decent. I would only complain the battery life could be just a little better.
5.0 out of 5 stars Big Features, Small Price – The Perfect Portable Field Monitor
The Desview R5II is an outstanding budget-friendly field monitor that offers an impressive array of features. One of its most notable highlights is the bright, color-accurate display, which remains clear and easy to view even under direct sunlight.Compact and lightweight, this monitor is highly portable and supports both horizontal and vertical mounting, adding versatility for various shooting styles. The touchscreen is responsive, and the intuitive menu system is packed with essential video tools, including a histogram, zebras, false color, waveform, and peaking focus assist, making it a great companion for filmmakers. The package includes micro and mini to full-size HDMI cables, a sunshade, a monitor mount, and a flash drive. However, it does not include a power supply or battery. The monitor is compatible with both NP-F series and E6 batteries and can also be powered via a 12V DC adapter (center positive). Additionally, you’ll need to hold the power button for a few seconds to turn the monitor on.Overall, the Desview R5II delivers excellent value with its feature set, brightness, and usability, making it an ideal choice for filmmakers looking for a reliable, portable, and cost-effective field monitor.
4.0 out of 5 stars Does basically all the things
Touch screen, lookup tables, anamorphic desqueeze, zebra, etc. my only complaint is the brightness, and lack of ARRI locating pins on the mount. Of course this is built to a spec, the brighter displays will go for more. Overall this one is a solid inexpensive choice for a monitor, especially when you want one that’ll do nearly everything.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality ease to use
Only way to improve would be to include a power adapter
5.0 out of 5 stars Really Solid Camera Monitor
Great cam monitor, feels really professional. I like that I can zoom in and see more details. It really helps me to make sure I'm focused and lit properly. To use it you need the correct battery pack, so be aware of that.
4.0 out of 5 stars Compact, bright field monitor
For those needing a field monitor on a budget, this is an excellent option. The monitor is bright enough to be used outside and provides a lot information to help with filming, such as histogram and zebras and most importantly accurate color. Touchscreen works well and the screen provides much larger view compared to the camera screen. The kit includes the monitor, monitor mount, sunshade and frame, micro and mini to full size HDMI cables, flash drive and a manual. It does not include power supply of any kind. No power adapter or battery so you’ll need to provide, NP or E6 style battery or 12V power supply. Language on my unit was set to Chinese out of the box so I had to go through the menus to change it to English. Other than that, power the device up, connect the HDMI cables and you’re good to go.I like that the monitor is very compact and light while providing bright screen to be used just about any lighting conditions. Color accuracy seems to be very good and you can even add LUTs to preview color grading. Overall, excellent compact field monitor for those on the go. Recommended.
