I am a big fan of specifically Buldak noodles which have less of a Sichuan peppercorn kind of heat and a more peppery, fiery heat with some savoriness and sweetness. I would estimate that those with a preference for Sichuan's numbing, tingly spice will really love these noodles. They have very little sweetness and are extremely salty. Each noodle kit comes with a soy+vinegar packet, a shallot jam packet (not as sweet as you might think), a dried chive packet and the star of the show, the chili crisp. I found that using the entirety of all packets minus the chili crisp was perfect flavor-wise. I added half of the chili crisp just to try it and found that to be a little too intense with tingly Sichuan flavor, though your preferences may vary. It's not very "spicy" at all in the Scoville heat sense, compared to other chili crisps I've tried. The noodles are a very unique shape -- flat down the middle and wavy along its sides. It picks up the sauce well. The plastic bowls included are too small to mix everything together, so you'll need to dirty another dish to stir your noodles. If you add many toppings (veggies, chicken or tofu, etc) there is no way the cooked noodles will fit back in that bowl. It's just way too small.

I am debating on 4 or 5 stars. I am going with 4 stars. These are excellent. The noodles are beyond excellent. The sauces are what brings it down to a 4 star for me.Making it was a breeze. I boiled some water. I cooked the noodles in it for 6 minutes. I was quite satisfied with the portion. It made a perfect amount for a quick lunch.There are 4 packs in each package of noodles. The one is labeled as dried chives. I did not see the others labeled. One was soy sauce, I believe. The other was a spicier chili crisp. The last was a sweeter more umami packet much like the chili crisp but without the spice.After pouring the noodles in a bowl, I added all of the soy sauce.I tasted the chili crisp. There isn't much crisp at all. More like a chewy texture of different ingredients. There is a good bit of oil. I stirred it up and spooned out the goodies out of the packet. I added a good portion into my noodles leaving a lot of the oil.I tasted the slightly sweeter/umami packet. There isn't any crisp. Same as the other. It has more of chewy texture. Reminds me of a jam in oil rather than a chili crisp. It is slightly sweet. No heat. It offers some umami. Again, there is a considerable amount of oil. I stirred it up and took out the goodies leaving the oil.The flavor:The flavor was very good. I loved the noodles. It had some heat but definitely not unbearable. It wasn't overly salty. It wasn't as sweet as I would have thought. Just a bit of umami and heat. To add a little flavor to my quick dish of noodles, I added some hoisin sauce and some coconut aminos to balance off the flavor. This made the noodles delicious and loved them.4 stars:Noodles are excellent.The sauces are ok but I wanted a little crisp and a little more of a flavor profile.

I wasn’t sure what to expect since I wasn’t familiar with this brand. I went ahead and followed the instructions very carefully and it resulted in a perfectly prepared chili crisp noodles. This one was made in the Sichuan province in China, which is well known for its Sichuan chilis and peppers. The noodles are a flat wavy thick noodle and it comes with a packet of dried spring onions, two packets of the chili crisp oil and a pack of soy sauce. I used all of the packets my first go and found it very flavorful and not painfully spicy. If you can’t tolerate as much heat, you can just use one of the chili packets. Next time I will try adding extra toppings to it.One thing to keep in mind is that this is not an instant noodle. You need to boil the noodles for 6 minutes in 6 cups of water and then drain it.

Overall these are pretty good.I found that these lacked some punch, needed more soy or salt or fish sauce to brighten the flavors. I also like FlyByJing Chili Crisp, and though that seems to be in here along with the sichuan peppercorns, I don't think there was enough balance in the packets.There are FOUR packets, two of which have chunks and are a PAIN to extract fully.Six cups of water takes a while to boil, and I don't think is necessary. I boiled in 4 cups just fine.An interesting and novel noodle dish, and the noodle texture and waves were fun. The whole thing just lacked some saltiness IMHO. With the annoying four packets on top and good but not great flavor, 4 stars.

We liked the taste and texture of these noodles with the dry seasoning packet and 3 liquid packets added. There was a slight amount of spicy heat but not as much as we were expecting or prefer. Also, there were no labels on the three packets of liquid seasonings to tell us what we were adding or to allow us to choose to eliminate one or more packet to suit individual taste. The packet of dry seasoning was labeled as chives. Our main concern with this tasty and quick product is the unusually high sodium level of 1,700 mg per serving. It also has 17 grams of protein, 33 grams of fat, and 5 grams of fiber per serving.

These noodles are very tasty. The best way I can describe them is that is is like eating a bowl of pasta made of asian noodles in place of linguini and an asian flavored oil based sauce. I had expected more heat based on the amount of chili in that seasoning packet, but it was a nice mild to medium heat not anything super hot. The overall flavor is milder than I had expected but it is very tasty.I really enjoyed it and would definitely order more.The one thing I am a little unsure of is the sodium content. 1700mg per package. I didn't even pay attention until after I had eaten a bowl of it. To be honest, I dont know where all of that salt is, it does not taste salty the way a ramen does. However, it is a LOT of sodium, and unlike ramen, there isnt a bunch of salty broth getting poured down the drain.
