I just received and installed the TCL D1 Max Security Video Smart Lock today and I am quite impressed with its performance so far.I have a very standard door so installation required no adjustment. I simply dropped the bolt in, fed the bar and the cable from the control module through the bolt, installed the back plate, trim plates and battery and I was in business.As far as the smart lock capabilities go the door unlocks and locks quickly with pass code entry and fingerprint recognition is faster than the older smart lock that this unit replaced. For me the real standout part of the smart log is that the TCL has a 10,000 milliamp hour rechargeable battery. Every other smart lock I have seen relies on standard AA batteries. I suppose that the added video capability and doorbell functionality required a much larger rechargeable battery but it's definitely an added bonus for the smart luck features as well.As a doorbell, the D1 works well. The cover over the key lock acts as a doorbell and there is a doorbell chime included. I chose not to use the chime as the lock/doorbell/camera is connected to my Alexa and my phone so I get alerts on both which is better than having to find a good place to mount the chime. With the video camera, this lock takes the place of my Ring doorbell which I had mounted off to the side of the door. It never really had the best view due to the viewing angle and the mount position of the TCL camera is perfect as it is right on the door instead of off to the side. The camera has a very wide viewing angle - close to 180 degrees so I can see the entirety of the front porch. Resolution is great and the camera has IRs on it so night viewing is also superb.Overall, this may be the best bit of tech that I've gotten in a while and it has allowed me to replace an older smart lock, my much older Ring doorbell and a Bluetooth/Wifi bridge that my old lock required - all with a single chassis doorbell/lock/security camera/intercom system. The price is up there but considering what you get I think it's worth every penny.

I had high hopes but this thing is terrible. It detects no one in spite of being on the shortest time period for scanning the area. When we get in the app it always tells us it can’t connect so we can’t ever see who is at the door. It gives notifications but when you click on them it just takes you to the home page of the app. Never says what the notification was for exactly, you have to go hunting around. Fingerprint feature works well. Auto lock works well. Doorbell needs to be backlit. No one knows it’s there so they never push it.

I like that this lock is easy to install. The features of the lock are great, I like the fingerprint feature and it works well. The camera feature is a bonus that I haven't seen before and it provides a nice clear image. The one thing that I don't like is the rechargeable battery. It is nice that you aren't constantly using batteries and throwing them away, but unless you have a second battery pack to drop in this lock loses all of its features.

Thanks for this Handy Multi Option Door Lock!A fairly streamlined product from TCL. Multiple QR codes, from the box to the instructions for installing the app and install help for the lock if needed. There are additional install videos available by scanning the QR codes in the instructions.It is not too bad to install, just a few parts to it, mounting hardware included. It has to sort of plug into itself for power. There are some warnings/caveats on the package to make sure it is charged of course! To be honest a spare battery could have been useful here. There is only one. There is more than one way to power in either an emergency or for normal use though. When operating normally it can be opened with biometrics, voice, the phone app, key or code. It has video and two-way voice & motion detection. Overall, a good number of options in a neatly packaged & fairly robust device. Thanks again!
