5.0 out of 5 stars Buttery
I totally enjoyed these cookies, and I didn't care if some were broken. The taste, in my opinion, was much better than sugar laden sweets. It's true, they are fragile, but the buttery sweetness and keto friendliness made them a great dessert.
5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected
I'm a huge fan of speculoos. I get so excited when I see the Biscoff cookies being passed out on flights. Now let's be realistic, these aren't EXACTLY the same as regular speculoos cookies, but it's extremely close! The chalky texture you get from most keto/low carb crunchy products is pretty minimal. The chalky texture is still there just not as bad. The cookies have a nice crunch and the flavor is good as well, minimal after taste. My husband is excited to try them with his coffee. I feel like this would make an amazing keto/low carb cheese cake flavor. One thing I also love about Choc Zero is that their very affordable. You get 10 packs of cookies, each has 3 cookies in them, so 30 cookies total. We normally eat these types of products sparingly (just when we need a little fix), so I'm sure they'll last us a long time.
4.0 out of 5 stars Low carb, yes. Sugar free, yes. Low flavor, yes.
While I understand that these are NOT mean to replace a regular Danish cookie (it's not even close) it is seriously lacking in flavor, and due to the alternate recipe, it is NOT low-calorie. It does smell pretty nice, but half of them arrived already broken in half, despite the sealed tin. There are a couple different shapes that are reminiscent of the Danish cookies, but again, only in shape. They all taste the same. Same texture, same crumbliness, it's just a very boring-tasting tin of Danish-looking butter cookies. So why 4 out of 5 stars? I appreciate what they are trying to do within the constraints of what they have to work with. It's really 3.5 rounded up. If you don't have to eat these, don't.
5.0 out of 5 stars Honest review: Have realistic expectations
As someone who has been doing keto for years, it is hard to find that things will taste 100% exactly as their sugar filled counterpart. No, they won’t. It is an acquired taste, if you are new to low carb and keto, wait some time so your body naturally starts accepting keto sweats after being deprived from sugar and carbs in general for a while. At that point it will taste heavenly. If you have recently started keto and are looking to satisfy your cravings this is what you can expect. There is nothing that I love more than Danish cookies and shortbreads. I love the buttery crispy flavor and that heavenly balanced sweetness, I love eating them with tea, coffee, hot cocoa or plain milk. I am a true fan of real danish cookies with no additives, no butter or artificial butter flavorings. Going back to the review, this cookies are good, they are somewhat a little bit dryer to taste than their full carb counterpart. I imagine it is due to the coconut flour. Normally coconut overpowers everything in general however the taste of butter is still subtle and noticeable which pairs well with the coconut. They have a nice nutty smell almost like brown butter, they’re very crispy and delightfully sweet. In the keto flavor scale I’d give it a 8/10 for being a good healthy counterpart as it is faithful to the traditional ingredients in a danish cookie. (Eggs, butter, vanilla) The only reason I’d give it 8 instead of 10 is due to the addition of palm oil which I am not fan of. For the price I’d expect it to have only butter and no other additional oil. Specially a bad one like palm oil. Setting that aside, they’re well packed however quantity not to big, again compared to the carb counterpart I get it we’re paying the healthy keto tax. Would I be buying them again? Yes because it is christmas season and this is part of my tradition during christmas, along with hot cocoa. I recommend pairing it with a cup of hot cocoa made with Lakanto Drinking chocolate. Enjoy!
3.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Disappointed
When I saw these cookies popped up when I was looking for some keto snack, I was so excited. I love Danish butter cookies but always felt guilty having them. I'm on a low carb diet and my wife is gluten-free, so we have our fair share of trying out various gluten-free to low carb desserts, snacks and full on meals. Obviously when you're on these restrictions, ingredients used are not traditional and there's usually an adjustment period. Which our taste buds are well acclimated after 10+ years. These cookie however did not make it to the OK to Get-By-List. The taste is not close to the original at all; it's extremely dry and powdery. The texture is similar to eating chinese almond cookies or wedding cookies but not as good.Highly disappointed and the box is actually bigger than the quantity they give you, which I'm glad it is this time.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
Truly taste just like the unhealthy alternative! We all love these. My guests and family didn't even know they were sugar and gluten free! We send them as gifts too. My only complaint is they ran out of tins and the boxes delivered broken cookies. They really need the tins cause the butter cookies are delicate. DELICIOUS! 😋
4.0 out of 5 stars These are so GOOD
I got this as a nice little treat to go along with my tea in the mornings. It's a great cookie - tastes like the original version and is perfectly crumbly. I like to dip it in my tea. It's not too sugary, but the cookies taste a bitch chalky.
