After my softener dispenser stopped working, i found this gadget which works perfect in my front loading washing machine. Super simple to use, i would highly recommend if you dont have a softener compartment or have trouble with your washing machine dispensing softener from the drawer.

Used in my front loader and seems to work perfectly. Just pour in conditioner, seal the tab and put in the drum. It comes out empty with the tab open.

I purchased this for a front loading washing machine - the fabric softener dispenser has stopped working but the detergent section is still going strong. This product is made for the American style top loaders but I thought I'd give it a try and see what happens. It's never going to be as good as the built in dispenser so as long as your expectations are low, you won't be disappointed. There are some reviews mentioning blue staining but I haven't found this to be the case on whites, colours, trainers or any of my laundry. Laundry does not feel as soft as it would usually, because the ball must pop open, releasing the softener before the rinse cycle. However, I do notice a difference between using this and having no softener at all. So it does make a bit if difference, just not a huge amount. I do feel like I'm wasting softener though so have changed to a detergent that contains some and I use a little less in the ball. As I'm not ready to replace the washing machine, this is a fairly inexpensive temporary solution. Don't expect a lot and you won't be disappointed. But if you're looking for fluffy towels, don't buy this.

The dispenser drawer on my front loading washing machine was getting a bit difficult to open, so I thought I'd give this Downy ball a try. I've used it with Ecover fabric conditioner and it works! Delivery was pretty quick too, considering these come from the USA.

I have to admit I had my doubts when I ordered this but instead of paying a service man to repair the dispenser in my washer thought I would give it a try. I’m so impressed it works perfect. I have a newer washer and the softener dispenser never worked right, I have no idea how this works but Maytag should include one with washer purchase sure works better than theirs.
It is the greatest invention ever
I have an appartment size washer and dryer and there was no place to put the fabric softener in the washer due to the fact the place cup to it was not there and for the last 3 years I have been using dryer sheets and it was awful they stuck to everything and was tripping them on laundry day. It is so easy to use a five year old could do.it. all you have to do is push the tab down fill it up with your favorite fabric softener and pull the the tab toss it in the washer and forget about it the rinse cycle will open up and release the fabric softener and there is no mess or fuss it is so easy you'll wonder why you did buy one earlier I love it it works amazing and I would recommend it for appartment size washer it no dispenser to put it in love it .
