Works Great!
5.0 out of 5 stars I use this in every wash
My top loading machine will only accept this fabric softener ball so it is used in every wash. The seal is tight and the product does release softener over 90% of the time. The balls do get a build up of black gunk on the inside over time so that is why I purchased a few at once
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy way to soften clothes
If you're washing machine doesn't have a built-in dispenser, this is the simple way to add fabric softener without having to rush down for the rinse cycle.Just add your favorite brand, and throw in with your laundry. It automatically opens during the spin cycle through centrifugal motion.Reliable, durable, convenient.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good product.
Great product. I should have paid attention to the quantity. Thought I was getting one ball and got 8 balls. That's okay...gave them to family.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect
These Downey balls are perfect when you are out somewhere and you don’t have the option to just put the Downey in to your machine. You just put a little Downey in this drop it in when the washer starts when it starts spinning it’ll open the top and let it all out so that it gets in your clothes so I like them very much when I’m traveling I use them all time.
5.0 out of 5 stars Downey ball
Looked all over for this item in local stores and finally had to order. They work great.
5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great buy!!!
I was glad to find these.. the one i had before lasted maybe 3 years. the plunger part finally broke, but i got bored and took that plunger apart and it was nasty inside and some mold and mildew. But i figure clean it every 6months or replace it once a year or two. but seeing them for $4 a ball at the store or online elsewhere i came across this deal and couldnt say no. i should have enough for a long time. Thanks
3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly doesn't work well.
I have a top loading machine which doesn't have a fabric softener dispenser and was tired of dryer sheets so wanted to give these a try so I could use liquid fabric softener. I followed the directions to a tee and even used Downy brand fabric softener to be sure that I gave these a fair chance. After using a dozen or more times I've ended up with a number of garments with fabric softener stains. With larger loads the ball seems to open too late in the rinse cycle and the fabric softener ends up stying mostly at the top of the machine. This leads to full strength fabric softener being left directly on the clothes near the top which leaves a stain that looks like a grease mark and is very difficult to get out. I tried different variations with load size, dilution and different fabric softeners all with similar results. The only time it seemed to work ok is when I had a medium or small amount of clothes but set the machine to large or super load size so that there was extra water to disperse it.Another issue I noted was that occasionally the ball either didn't open at all or there was a significant amount of fabric softener left inside. Overall it's too much trouble to tinker around with and the stains really make it not worth it. I'll stick to my dryer sheets.
A Laundrey Must Have!
I have used the Downey ball for more years than I could remember unfortunately for health reasons my husband took over doing our laundry. Actually he's done a terrific job. He washes in cold water and even hangs most of my clothes. I love the smell of Downey and a few months ago I start missing it and also noticed my towels were progressively becoming less soft. I asked a few times if he still used the products I used and he said of course. Finally I asked what he did and then he told me he put the Downey in the washing machine dispenser. Bingo! So why wasn't he using the Downey ball? Somehow between him, our son and two cats that love anything that rolls it was gone. The bigger mystery was that nobody could find one to buy in the GTA, Barrie, Ontario. I still don't know why but when I found these on Bolo I jumped at the chance to buy them especially from this supplier. I have seen others go at this price for just 1 or 2 balls so the price is great too. 2 went to the laundry room and I am keeping the rest safe with me. FYI - I used to use either Downey in the washer for things that I hung up and a dryer sheet in the dryer. I visited one of my daughter's friends about 25 years ago and had to ask how she got her towels so lovely and soft. A little embarrassing to ask a newlywed (and one I had watched grow up) for laundry tips but I'm glad I did because ever since towels that are 25 years and older are soft and lovely to use.
Great
Good
Amazing find!
I use to have one back from the 90's and must have lost it because when I can't use my fabric softener dispenser, these work just as great.Sadly, looking for a single or 2-3 pack is expensive but this larger pack is a fraction of the cost. Now I will forever have extras in case if one breaks. They are easy to use - direction is on individual ball packaging. Easy to clean, doesn't damage easily.
Awesome product
I couldn’t find these anywhere. I was going to buy 1 for 12.00 but paid a couple dollars more for 8 of them! Now I will never run out
Awesome time saver!!
I had one of these years ago and loved using it. These are exactly the same. I got a case (8) of them so I can give them as little "gifts" to friends/family. If your washing machine does not have a fabric softener dispenser built in, this is a perfect solution. Simple to use and very cost effective.
